A method for providing localized jamming effects includes using a processor onboard a vehicle to perform the steps of: receiving a jamming command to simulate a jamming effect on a particular sensor onboard the vehicle; and generating a jamming effect in a model of the particular sensor in response to the jamming command. The jamming effect in the model of the particular sensor simulates the jamming effect on the particular sensor being generated by an entity other than the vehicle.

Providing localized jamming effects in a training exercise

The illustrative embodiments provide for a method a training system. The training system includes a physical sensor system connected to a physical vehicle. The physical sensor system is configured to obtain real atmospheric obscuration data of a real atmospheric obscuration. The training system also includes a data processing system comprising a processor and a tangible memory. The data processing system is configured to receive the real atmospheric obscuration data, and determine based on the real atmospheric obscuration data whether a target is visible to the physical vehicle in a simulation training environment generated by the data processing system. The simulation training environment at least including a virtual representation of the physical vehicle and a virtual representation of the real atmospheric obscuration.

Method for simulating live aircraft infrared seeker obscuration during live, virtual, constructive (LVC) exercises

The virtual crew member simulates operational actions and behavioral and physiological responses of a crew member of an aircraft. The method includes collecting one or more responses of an operator using the aircraft simulator. The one or more responses comprise biofeedback data associated with the operator. The method includes generating, in response to the one or more responses, one or more simulated operational actions or simulated behavioral and physiological responses for the virtual crew member. The method includes collecting one or more additional responses of the operator. The one or more additional responses comprise additional biofeedback data of the operator that corresponds to an interaction with the one or more simulated operational actions or simulated behavioral and physiological responses for the virtual crew member.

Systems and methods for an immersive simulator

A method and apparatus comprising an aircraft, a network interface, a display system, a sensor system, and a computer system. The network interface, the display system, the sensor system, and the computer system are associated with the aircraft. The network interface is configured to exchange data using a wireless communications link. The computer system is configured to run a number of processes to receive simulation data received through the network interface over the wireless communications link. The computer system is configured to generate simulation sensor data using the simulation data. The computer system is configured to receive live sensor data from the sensor system associated with the aircraft. The computer system is also configured to present the simulation sensor data with the live sensor data on the display system.

Integrated live and simulation environment system for an aircraft

A method and apparatus for displaying simulation objects. A simulation of a live environment is run while a training device is present in the live environment. A set of simulation objects in the simulation is identified from a number of simulation objects in the simulation using a position of the training device in which the set of simulation objects is visible to the training device in the live environment. Simulation data is generated for the set of simulation objects. The simulation data is sent to the training device in the live environment.

A method and apparatus for training in an aircraft. A display system is associated with an aircraft. A sensor system is associated with the aircraft. A training processor is configured to be connected to the aircraft. The training processor is configured generate constructive data for a number of simulation objects and generate simulation sensor data using the constructive data. The training processor is further configured to present the simulation sensor data with live sensor data generated by the sensor system for an aircraft on a display system in the aircraft.

A method and apparatus for training in an aircraft. An apparatus comprises an aircraft, a display system associated with the aircraft, a sensor system associated with the aircraft, and a training processor configured to be connected to the aircraft. The training processor is further configured to receive information about an operator, generate constructive data for simulated objects, generate simulation sensor data using the constructive data, and present the simulation sensor data with live sensor data generated by the sensor system on the display system. The training processor is further configured to identify a performance of the operator based on a policy and modify a simulation based on the performance of the operator.

Performance-based simulation system for an aircraft

A method and apparatus for generating visible objects not blocked by other objects in a simulation during training with aircraft. A position for each aircraft in a number of aircraft is identified for which objects that block the fields of view for each aircraft are to be identified to form a number of positions for the number of aircraft. Any object in the simulation that blocks a portion of a field of view for each aircraft at the position for each aircraft is identified to form a number of objects. Simulation data is created for a number of visible objects not blocked by the number of objects in the simulation that has been identified as blocking the portion of the field of view for each aircraft in the number of aircraft. The simulation data is sent to each aircraft in the number of aircraft.

Occlusion server for an integrated live and simulation environment for an aircraft

A method and apparatus are provided for automatically generating a terrain model for display during a simulated flight along a predefined mission route. The apparatus includes a mission profiler that automatically determines the area containing the mission route for which the terrain source data is required and the respective resolution of different regions within the area. The apparatus also includes an apparatus for automatically collecting the terrain source data including a search engine for automatically searching electronic collections of terrain source data to identify terrain source data covering the area containing the mission route. The apparatus also includes an image engine for processing the terrain source data into one or more predefined formats and a terrain engine for automatically compiling the processed data to create a terrain model for display during flight simulation.
