A support and attachment mechanism for a dock leveler lift bag. The dock leveler includes a supporting structure which is mounted in a pit in a loading dock and the rear end of a ramp is pivoted to the supporting structure so that the ramp is movable between a horizontal position and an upwardly inclined position. A bag support member is pivoted to the supporting structure and is located in the pit beneath the ramp. An inflatable bag assembly is located adjacent the rear end of the ramp and is positioned between the underside of the ramp and the bag support member. By inflating the bag assembly, the ramp can be pivoted from the horizontal to the upwardly inclined position. The bag assembly includes a rearwardly extending tether which is secured to the supporting structure and prevents the bag assembly from squeezing forwardly as the bag assembly is inflated. The deflated bag assembly can be drawn upwardly against the underside of the ramp by pivotal movement of the bag support member to provide access to the pit.

Support mechanism for a dockleveler lift bag

An edge-of-dock leveler incorporating an inflatable lift bag. The leveler includes a frame mounted on the front face of the dock and the rear edge of a deck plate is hinged to the frame, while a lip is hinged to the forward edge of the deck plate. In the storage position, the deck plate is generally horizontal while the lip hangs downwardly in a pendant position. The frame includes a fixed pressure member and a movable pressure member is hinged to an edge of the fixed pressure member. A link interconnects the movable pressure member with the deck plate. An inflatable, flexible bag is located between the pressure members and by inflating the bag, the deck plate is pivoted from the horizontal position to the substantially vertical position. By deflating the bag, the deck plate will descend by gravity and the forward edge of the lip will move in a generally curved path into engagement with the bed of a truck parked in front of the loading dock.

Edge-of-dock leveler

An inflatable bag assembly for a dock leveler including a stack of superimposed bags which are joined together along contiguous surfaces. The interiors of the bags are connected to a suitable source of low pressure gas such as air. The stack of superimposed bags is positioned between a supporting surface on a loading dock and a ramp which is hinged to the dock and is movable between a horizontal position and an upwardly inclined position. By supplying air to the bag assembly, the bag assembly is inflated thereby moving the ramp from the horizontal to the upwardly inclined position.

Bag construction for a dockleveler

An automatic wheel chocking apparatus for restraining movement of a vehicle away from a loading dock during a loading operation. The apparatus comprises an elongated trough formed in the driveway that extends outwardly from the front face of the loading dock and a wheel chock is mounted in the trough for movement between a storage position, where the wheel chock is located beneath the level of a driveway, and an operative position where the chock extends upwardly above the driveway and is disposed to engage a wheel of a vehicle. The wheel chock is moved between the storage and operative positions by a drive mechanism that is located within the trough and includes a lead screw. A nut is threaded on the lead screw and is connected to the wheel chock via a rigid link. Rotation of the lead screw will move the chock between the storage and operative positions.

Automatic wheel chocking apparatus having an improved drive mechanism

An industrial door includes a door panel that is movable between an open position and a closed position where the door panel encloses a doorway. A flexible beam is attached to the lower edge of the door panel and the beam is composed of superimposed strips of resilient material, such as rubber, with flexible metal strips disposed between adjacent resilient strips. Each end of the beam is provided with a longitudinal open-ended slot and an extension of a guide member is mounted within each slot in a manner such that the extensions will freely slide in the slots in a direction parallel to the plane of the door panel and will be released from the slots if the beam is subjected to a substantial accidental impact.

Industrial door having flexible and releasable beam

A roll-up door for enclosing the doorway in a building. The door comprises a horizontal rotatable drum mounted above the doorway and a flexible door panel is wound on the drum. A pulley is secured to each end of the drum and the first ends of a pair of belts are secured to each pulley and the belts are wound in overlapping relation on pulley so that adjacent convolutions of each belt are separated by convolutions of the other belt. The free end of one belt is dead-ended on the frame, and a counterbalancing weight is attached to the belt intermediate its ends and exerts a counterbalancing force to wind the door panel on the drum. The free end of the second belt is connected to the lower end of the door panel and a pair of springs are connected to the second belt intermediate its ends and the springs exert a tensioning force to stretch the door panel when the door panel is in the closed position.
