A database record controls a license to use a computational component. An input receives an order identifier associated with an order related to a computational component and an interface retrieves order information associated with the identifier. The order information comprises at least one material code. A material code mapping agent compares the material code with at least one material code mapping table to identify corresponding computational component information associated with the material code. In another configuration, a transaction record includes first information associated with the order, the order relates to at least a first computational component and/or feature thereof, a configuration file includes second information different from the first information, the configuration file relates to at least one telecommunication switch/server, and a configuration file processing agent compares some of the first information with some of the second information to form a system record having both first and second information.

Remote feature activator feature extraction

Methods, devices, and systems for creating and using a trusted host list for Transport Layer Security (TLS) sessions are provided. The proposed solutions described herein provide a mechanism of specifying authorization policy for TLS sessions where such authorization was traditionally implied by the possession of a certificate issued by a mutually trusted third party. The proposed solutions also provide for wildcard use and regular expression matching to simplify administration of the trusted host list.

A system for providing a user with authorization to perform one or more functions using or otherwise involving a computational component is provided. The system includes an authentication file systemoperable to (a) receive a request from a user for a second set of authentication information permitting a second set of operations to be performed on a computational component, wherein the computational component is operable to be installed by the user on the computational system, wherein the computational component contains a first set of authentication information permitting a first set of operations to be performed on the computational component; and wherein the first and second sets of operations are different; (b) generate an authentication file containing the second set of authentication information; and (c) transmit the authentication file to the computational system.

The present invention is directed to licensing data structures for telecommunication systems. The data structures comprise (a) a lock setting or status to permit the contents of the license file for an operational feature to take precedence over the corresponding translation information for the operational feature or to be used as a default setting if there is not corresponding translation information for the operational feature; (b) first and second value settings for an operational feature to permit a value associated with the operational feature to be set anywhere in the range defined by the first and second value settings; and (c) a right-to-use field for an operational feature that is separate from a setting field for the operational feature to provide flexibility in altering the setting field without deleting the operational feature. The present invention further provides a methodology for providing temporary licenses having different features enabled/disabled than a permanent license.

Flexible license file feature controls

A systemfor providing credentials to a computational component in a distributed processing network is provided. The systemincludes: (a) a plurality of crypto-tokens-, each crypto-token-comprising a unique identifier, optionally a digital certificate comprising a unique public key and the unique identifier, and a private key corresponding to the public key; (b) a provisioning systemcomprising a certificate authorityoperable to generate the plurality of crypto-tokens-; and (c) a computational componentcomprising a drive operable to receive and communicate with a selected crypto-token. The computational componentuses the digital certificate and private key in any of the crypto-tokens-to establish a secured communication session with the provisioning system. Before the establishing operation, any of the plurality of crypto-tokens-can be engaged with the computational componentto establish the secure communication session.

Secure installation activation

The present invention is directed to a system, comprising: a license manageroperable to identify the occurrence of a predetermined licensing event and a mode setting agentoperable to change, in response to the occurrence of the predetermined licensing event (e.g., an absence of a valid license), from a first licensing mode (e.g., a license normal mode) to a second licensing mode (e.g., a license error mode). The second licensing mode is different from the first licensing mode. In each of the first and second licensing modes a common set of features performed by the telecommunication application (e.g., call processing functions) are operational.

The system comprises (i) an input and/or interfaceoperable to receive a request to authorize operation of at least part of the computational component; (ii) a memory, such as licensing database, comprising licensing database information associated with the identifier, the information comprising a licensing state indicator; and (iii) an activator, such as remote feature activator, operable to (a) authorize operation of the at least part of the computational component when the licensing state indicator has a first state and (b) not authorize operation of the at least part of the computational component when the licensing state indicator has a second state other than the first state.

License file serial number tracking

The present invention is directed to a system, comprising: (i) first and second computational componentsandhaving, respectively, first and second unique identifiers; (ii) a license filecomprising third and fourth identifiersandrespectively associated with the first and second computational components; (iii) a license manageroperable to (a) obtain, from the first and second computational components, the first and second unique identifiers, (b) access the license file to obtain the third and fourth identifiers, (c) compare each of the first and second unique identifiers with one or both of the third and fourth identifiers; and (iv) a mode setting agentoperable to permit the one or both of the first and second computational components to perform an operation, when both the first and second identifiers match one of the third and fourth identifiers, and not permit the first and second computational components to perform the operation, when only one of the first and second identifiers matches one of the third and fourth identifiers.

Licensing duplicated systems

Dividing the function of wireless handset control from the function of telecommunication call control in a software architecture of a wireless telecommunication system. The wireless handset control function follows the wireless handset as it registers and is handed off from switch node to switch node; the telecommunication call control function remains on the switch node on which the wireless handset first became active and remains on that switch node until the wireless handset becomes inactive. Upon the wireless handset becoming inactive, the wireless telecommunication call control function is transferred to the switch node on which the wireless handset is currently registered.

Wireless handset feature transparency between switching nodes

Periodically sending by a telecommunication controlled application an encrypted message to a licensed server to request permission to run and to obtain a list of permitted features. The license server application is executing on the same processor as the controlled application. Also resident on the same system is a license file which contains a list of applications that are permitted to run, the version number of the permitted applications and a list of permitted features. The license server is responsive to the encrypted message from the controlled application to read and decrypt the license file, read the serial number of the processor controlling the telecommunications system, compare the serial number obtained from the processor with the serial number stored in the license file. If there is a mis-match, no license is granted to the control applications and it will not be allowed to run. If the serial numbers match, then a comparison is made between the version number received from the application and the corresponding version number associated with the application in the license file. If the version number mismatches, an encrypted message is sent to the application denying it permission to run. If the version number matches, an encrypted message is sent to the application granting it permission to run and listing the permitted features. To decrypt the license file, the license server utilizes a key that is assigned to the license server either globally or on a per system basis.
