An adapter having solderless wire terminals for receiving the wire leads from an electrical equipment such as a radio or stereo player set is installed on the back of such set. Such terminals have solderless spring connectors for the wire leads, these connectors employing a pair of opposing apertured fingers which overlap when manually urged together against the spring action to permit the insertion of a wire lead in the aperture thereof and to be retained therein by the spring action. The equipment or stereo set is removably installed in a mounting frame which is mounted in the vehicle. The mounting frame has a terminal therein which the terminal of the set matingly engages to provide electrical connections therebetween. The terminal of the mounting frame has solderless spring connectors similar to those of the terminal of the equipment, such connectors receiving the various wiring leads from the equipment to the power source, speakers, etc. The mounting frame has two sections which are adjustable to vary the depth thereof to accommodate equipments of various depths.

Anti-theft mounting system for vehicle radio or stereo equipment

A rectangular frame has two pairs of opposing runners formed along the inner edges of the longitudinal sides thereof which are normally oriented horizontally. The pairs of runners are separated from each other by a space large enough to accomodate the installation of a panel member in each such pair of runners. The panel members have a slider arrangement means formed along the top and bottom edges thereof, the slider arrangement matingly engages an associated pair of the runners for slidable positioning therealong. The panel members have apertures formed therein through which radio control shafts can be fitted. Such panel members can be selectively positioned along their associated runners to accomodate shafts located in various positions. Various such panel members having different mounting structures are provided to suit a variety of different mounting installations.

Panel assembly for use in variously mounting radio equipment in vehicles

An installation assembly for use in installing radio equipment in a vehicle has a front panel with a pair of front panel sections which are joined together along a breakaway seam. A pair of tabs are used to interconnect the panel sections together at their opposite ends to make for a rigid firm joinder therebetween. The assembly can be used in its original form for a first equipment installation. For a second equipment installation, the panel sections are separated from each other and only one section utilized, this end result being achieved by first breaking off the tabs and then separating the sections from each other along the breakaway seam.

Radio installation kit with convertible front panel

An electrical switching mechanism has a pair of arcuate spring contact members which are mounted in a casing. An aperture is formed in the casing for receiving an actuator member which may comprise a screw or other similar actuator member. A camming member is slidably mounted in the casing with one portion thereof abutting against one of the spring contact members. The camming member is urged by the spring contact member such that it is resiliently urged towards the aperture. The spring contact members are retained in the casing by means of casing guide elements in a position such that when a screw or other member is inserted in the aperture, the camming member is urged outwardly by the screw so that it retains its associated spring contact member in a non contact position with the other spring contact member. When the screw is removed from the aperture, the first mentioned spring contact member drives the camming member into the aperture with the two spring contacts being permitted to come into contact with each other. The switching mechanism can be used in an alarm system to provide a warning when the screw is removed in an attempt to steal a piece of equipment held thereby.

Switching mechanism for anti-theft system

A rectangular frame has a plurality of slots and apertures formed therein for use in mounting any one of a plurality of different radios thereon in a selected position. A plurality of bar members are formed along each of the corners of the frame. Formed in the frame directly below each of the bar members and running in a row along the inner edge of each bar member is a row of apertures. Brackets for use in mounting the frame to the vehicle dashboard or other convenient portion of the vehicle fit matingly on each of the bars for slidable motion therealong. Each bracket has a tab member which is adapted to matingly snap into one of the apertures running along the bar member. The brackets are slidably adjusted along their associated bar members to a selected position opposite one of the apertures in which position the tabs thereof are permitted to snap into the aperture to lock the bracket in the desired position. If the bracket is to be moved to a different position the tab thereof can be moved out of the aperture with a suitable tool such as a screwdriver to permit slidable movement of the tab to a new position along its associated bar member opposite another one of the apertures.

Universal mounting system for installing vehicle radio equipment

A rectangular frame has a plurality of similar closed slots formed in each of the sides thereof. A tray for supporting a radio or the like has a plurality of tabs which are adapted to be fitted into selected slots formed on the frame as may be required for mounting a particular piece of radio equipment in a particular vehicle. A front panel for this radio equipment has similar tabs thereon so that it can selectively be mounted in a desired position for the particular radio installation with the tabs fitted into selected mating slots formed in the frame. Mounting brackets for the particular installation are fitted into selected slots on the frame to enable the proper mounting of the equipment in a vehicle. Various mounting brackets and front panels are provided to adapt to various radio equipment installations in conjunction with the multi slotted frame which is adapted to receive the tray, front panel, and mounting brackets in a variety of different configurations each of which is adapted to a particular installation.
