A power tool comprises a housing, a motor assembly and an impact assembly configured to be driven by the motor assembly. The impact assembly comprises a hammer defining a hammer chamber therein and an anvil at least partially disposed in the hammer chamber and configured to rotationally drive an output shaft. The anvil comprises a body portion, an anvil chamber defined therein, and a reciprocating member configured to selectively move radially outwardly relative to the body portion to be selectively impacted by an impact member of the hammer so that the hammer selectively imparts rotational movement to the anvil. The anvil includes an active valve configured to control discharge of fluid from an anvil chamber to the hammer chamber. The active value variably opens based on variance of one or more physical characteristics of the fluid (e.g., at least one of volume, temperature, pressure, or viscosity of the fluid).

Impact driver

An actuator assembly for a power tool includes an actuator with a permanent magnet. The actuator is moveable between a first position for a first mode of operation, and a second position for a second mode of operation. A first positioning member is adjacent the first position composed of a ferromagnetic material to attract the permanent magnet. A second positioning member is adjacent the second position and composed of a ferromagnetic material to attract the permanent magnet. An electromagnet may be energized to move the actuator between the first position and the second position. When the electromagnet is not energized and the actuator is in the first position, the actuator is retained in the first position. When the electromagnet is not energized and the actuator is in the second position, the actuator is retained in the second position. When the electromagnet is energized, the actuator moves between the first and second positions.

Electromagnetic actuator for power tool

An impact power tool includes a transmission output shaft, a rotary impact assembly with a cam shaft, hammer, and anvil, and a tool output shaft rotatable with the anvil. A coupler removably couples the cam shaft to the transmission output shaft. When torque on the tool output shaft is less than or equal to a first threshold, the transmission output shaft, cam shaft, hammer, and anvil rotate together to transmit torque to the tool output shaft. When torque on the tool output shaft is above the first threshold, the hammer moves along the cam shaft away from the anvil by a first distance and applies rotary impacts to the anvil. When the hammer moves along the cam shaft away from the anvil by a second distance greater than the first distance, the coupler decouples the transmission output shaft from the cam shaft, interrupting torque transmission to the tool output shaft.

A table saw guard assembly for guarding a blade on a table saw is provided. The table saw guard assembly includes a support structure and a hood assembly including at least one of a front curtain, first side curtain, second side curtain and top curtain, wherein each of said curtains are independently moveable and/or removable from the hood assembly. Furthermore, a table saw guard assembly is provided including a quick release mechanism for connecting the hood assembly to the support structure.

An impact wrench, includes a housing including a handle. A rotating anvil is supported by the housing and includes a polygonal head adapted for receiving a socket thereon. A socket retention device is mounted to the polygonal head of the rotating anvil for securing a socket to the polygonal head. A socket release mechanism includes an actuator mounted to the housing and operable to disengage the socket retention device from the socket to allow the socket to be removed from the anvil.

A workpiece adjusting mechanism for a miter saw is provided. The workpiece adjusting mechanism may include: a table for supporting a workpiece to be cut by the miter saw; an engager for engaging the workpiece, the engager configured to move the workpiece with respect to the table; and an actuator configured to control the engager to move the workpiece with respect to the table.

A power tool for drilling a hole in a workpiece made of wood or a wood material. The power tool generally includes a tool housing defining a handle and a motor contained within the tool housing that includes an output shaft that spins about a motor axis. A gear housing is connected to the tool housing. An output spindle is supported for rotation about a spindle axis in the gear housing. The spindle axis is disposed about ninety degrees from the motor axis. A gear portion on the output shaft is engaged to a gear portion on the output spindle. The motor and the gear portions are configured to rotate the output spindle at a speed in range from about five thousand revolutions per minute to about twenty-five thousand revolutions per minute. A cutting member is connected to the output spindle. The cutting member includes fluted cutting blades. A carriage assembly includes a base member and a head member connected by a first post having a first compliant member and a second post. The head member slides relative to the first and second posts and against a force exerted by the first compliant member when the head member is moved toward the base member to pass the cutting member through the base member to engage the workpiece. The base member includes a generally planar face on a bottom surface of the base member that is generally perpendicular to the spindle axis.

A printed circuit board (PCB) connector assembly for a wiring harness is disclosed. The PCB connector assembly may include a PCB, a connector housing disposed on a surface of the PCB, and a plurality of ID resistors for identifying data and limiting voltages through the cordless power tool. The ID resistors are mounted on the surface of the PCB. An encapsulant covers the plurality of ID resistors.

An electronic control module provides dual insulation layers between an internal line voltage and a separate tool housing that serves as a heat sink, thereby allowing versatility in mounting the electronic control module within the tool housing interior, and thereby also eliminating the risk of electrical shock to a user making contact with an exterior tool housing surface. The control module includes a power device, connected to a line voltage, and a thermal pad. The power device provides a first layer of electrical insulation between the line voltage and an external tab of the power device while the thermal pad provides a second layer of electrical insulation. The combined first and second layers provide a minimum amount of electrical insulation between the line voltage and the tool housing thereby preventing electrical shock. Alternatively, the thermal pad is provided between the control module and the tool housing.
