Apparatus for producing duplex copies and including a movable image receiving member for receiving first and second unfixed transferable images, an image transfer device for transferring the transferable images to the first and second sides of a copy sheet and copy sheet handling apparatus. The copy sheet handling apparatus includes a copy sheet vacuum pick-off member located adjacent to the image receiving member and a mechanism for moving the pick-off member in synchronism with the image receiving member through a closed loop path to initially vacuum contact a copy sheet in contact with the image receiving member after transfer of the first unfixed image to the first side of the copy sheet, to remove and reorient the copy sheet while the first image is unfixed, and to register the second side of the copy sheet with the second transferable image on the image receiving member at the image transfer device.

Apparatus for producing duplex copies

Loose toner particles carried by a flexible support are fused thereto by cylindrically curling the support about the longitudinal axis of a flashlamp, and momentarily energizing the flashlamp while the toner-bearing support is curled thereabout. A transport mechanism, adapted for use in a high-speed recording apparatus, advances a toner-bearing sheet along a circular path such that the toner-bearing surface of the sheet is untouched and continuously faces toward the center of curvature of the path.

Electrographic apparatus and process for humidity stabilized development

A method for preconditioning an electrographic developer comprising an unconsolidated mass of discrete particles of a carrier and of a toner which carries a charge control agent of negative or positive polarity, said method comprising repeatedly passing a flowing stream of such developer through an electrostatic field between a positive or negative electrode and a grounded electrode of opposite polarity, and attracting part of said toner particles to the electrode of sign opposite the sign of said charge control agent. The grounded electrode has an inclined surface and the stream of developer slides down such surface under the other electrode, which is parallel to the grounded electrode. The apparatus includes mixing mechanism for mixing the developer, and conveying mechanism for carrying mixed developer from the bottom of the inclined grounded electrode back to the top for repeated passage through the electrostatic field.
