A portable blast head rigging apparatus is disclosed which is particularly suited for use in cleaning the sides of large storage tanks. The rigging employs a travel car having a winch mechanism thereon. By means of a cable connected to the top of the tank the car crawls up the side of the tank to the top where it is pivoted into a position from which it can travel around the entire circumference of the tank. Once in place the travel car hoists a rigging into position against the tank side suspended from the travel car. The blast head is then moved up and down within the rigging by operation of the travel car winch mechanism and the travel car is repositioned periodically to permit treatment of the entire tank.

Blast head rigging apparatus for tank side cleaning

A device is disclosed for testing the useful life of particulates, such as, steel shot, grit or other abrasives. The device employs a blast wheel for throwing the shot at high velocity against an annular target. The wheel and target are mounted on a rotating structure so that substantially all of the spent particulate is continually returned to the wheel via a recirculating tube. In this manner accurate evaluation of a particulate sample under test can be accomplished.

Recirculating shot testing device

An apparatus for producing mechanical energy utilizing the sun's rays is disclosed. The apparatus includes a continuously rotating structure having a plurality of thermally actuated pump units, consisting of a temperature sensitive cell and a piston assembly, mounted thereon. A focusing means concentrates solar rays on a number of the cells causing the expansion of material contained in each cell, resulting in the extension of a piston rod, the compression of a cylinder within the piston assembly and the transfer of fluid contained therein to a high pressure accumulator for operating hydraulic motors or the like. When rotated from under the focusing means, the cell cools resulting in a decrease in volume of the expansible material and a retraction of the piston rod causing fluid to enter the piston assembly from a reservoir. The pump unit is thus prepared for another cycle of operation beginning when the rotatable structure has completed a full revolution and the cell is again exposed to the focused rays of the sun.
