A scalp cooling apparatus, method, and system that may include an inner scalp cap, an intermediate scalp covering, and an outer scalp cap. The inner scalp cap may be fluidly coupled to a cooling device, that would allow a cooling fluid to traverse the fluid chambers within a set of sections of the inner scalp cap. The inner scalp covering can be constructed of a thermally conductive material. The intermediate scalp covering can be constructed of a thermally neutral material. The outer scalp covering can be constructed of a thermally resistant material. The outer scalp covering may have a first securing mechanism, and a second securing mechanism, that allow the outer scalp covering to be dynamically adjusted and secured against a patient's scalp via the first securing mechanism and the second securing mechanism. The inner scalp cap may be created from a scan of a patient's head, that can then be utilized as an interpolated parametric model may be utilized to generate an output file.

A hollow rod developable actuator tool including a first link comprising an outer cylinder, a deployment ring including second link comprising a first portion pivotably connected to the first link at a first joint mounted in a first cavity in the wall of the outer cylinder and a third link comprising a second tool portion pivotably connected to the first portion at a second link, and a fourth link comprising an inner cylinder to which the second portion of the deployment ring is also pivotably connected at a third link mounted in a second cavity in the wall of the inner cylinder. When the inner cylinder of the fourth link is rotated in relation to the outer cylinder of the first link the actuator tool transitions from a first state where the deployment ring is stowed within the tool to a second state where the deployment ring is deployed externally.

A method includes providing a three-dimensional representation of a doubly curved surface as a smooth function or triangulated mesh. The three-dimensional surface is cut into one or more panels representing each panel by a triangulated mesh. A two-dimensional approximation of the set of panels is created by representing the two-dimensional pattern as a triangulated mesh that is topologically equivalent to the three-dimensional meshes representing the panels.

Method for creating a curved covering from flat material

A hinged mechanism includes: panels; and hinges connecting respective pairs of the panels to each other in a closed loop so that the hinged mechanism is non-planar, wherein at least one of the hinges is a rolling-contact hinge. All of the hinges can be rolling-contact hinges. The closed-loop hinged mechanism can comprise at least four hinges, each of the at least four hinges being a sole connection between a respective adjacent pair of the panels. A cross section of rolling surfaces of the rolling-contact hinge can be circular. A cross section of rolling surfaces of the rolling-contact hinge can be non-circular.

Exemplary embodiments of collapsible containers are disclosed herein. Some exemplary embodiments include a container having a plurality of sides. The plurality of sides forms a substantially geometric shape, such as a rectangular shape. A plurality of predetermined fold lines extend substantially across each of the sides and the predetermined fold lines form a plurality of geometric shapes. A plurality of predetermined fold lines for inner folds on a first side are aligned with a plurality of predetermined fold lines for outer folds on a second side.

One embodiment relates to a method of tracking motion using a speckle-based motion sensor. A distance moved is determined by a first signal processing procedure, and a distance moved is determined by a second signal processing procedure. Selection between said distances is made based on whether the distance determined by the first signal processing procedure exceeds a predetermined threshold distance. According to a preferred embodiment, the first signal processing procedure makes a more accurate determination of distance for slower speeds, while the second signal processing procedure makes a more accurate determination of distance for higher speeds. Other embodiments, aspects and features are also disclosed.

Processing methods for speckle-based motion sensing

An optical navigation sensor (ONS) is provided having a spatial frequency filter to transmit radiation at selected spatial frequencies while attenuating other, undesired frequencies and harmonics. The ONS includes a radiation source to transmit radiation toward a portion of a surface that diffusely reflects radiation incident thereon. The spatial frequency filter is disposed to receive radiation scattered from the surface, and, in one embodiment, includes a number of non-circular openings to pass radiation of at least one pre-selected frequency while attenuating other frequencies and harmonics of the pre-selected frequency.

A container with an integrated foldable closure system containing a secure locking mechanism. The container is provided with an upper edge divided by a series of mountain and valley folds into a set of triangular and quadrilateral panels. When the panels are folded down on the given folds, the panels interlock and extend beyond the centroid of the closure, thereby providing a secure locking mechanism. Also disclosed is a simple method for closing said container.

An optical sensor and method of using the same is provided for sensing relative movement between the sensor and a surface by detecting changes in optical features of light reflected from the surface. In one embodiment, the sensor includes a two dimensional array of photosensitive elements, the array including at least a first plurality of photosensitive elements arranged and coupled to sense a first combined movement along a first set of at least two non-parallel axes, and a second plurality of photosensitive elements arranged and coupled to sense a second combined movement along a second set of a least two non-parallel axes.

A signal processing method is provided for sensing movement of an optical sensor relative to a surface. Generally, the method includes steps of: (i) generating sets of signals responsive to motion along each of a first, second, and third direction, the directions not necessarily all different, (ii) combining the sets of signals to generate a first complex signal for each direction at a first time; (iii) combining the sets of signals to generate a second complex signal for each direction at a second time subsequent to the first time; (iv) computing a third complex signal for each direction wherein each of the third complex signals is a predicted value for each of the second complex signals, the predicted signal depending on a number of values representing distance moved; and (v) determining optimum values of the values representing distance moved by minimizing differences between the second and third complex signals.
