A golf grip for a golf club is disclosed herein. The golf grip includes a closed end, an open end, a composite shell including a laminate composite fiber material, a foam layer, and a shaft cavity. The foam layer is inward of the composite shell. The shaft cavity extends from the open end towards the closed end. The shaft cavity is inward from the composite shell and the foam layer. In embodiments, the golf grip also includes a core tube inward of the composite shell and of the foam layer. The core tube forms a shaft cavity for receiving a shaft of the golf club.

A molded golf grip for a golf club includes first simulated wrap, and a second simulated wrap. The first simulated wrap includes a first wrap surface extending in a helical pattern. The first wrap surface includes a first wrap surface texture and a first wrap width that is less than a pitch of the helical pattern. The second simulated wrap includes a second wrap surface extending in a second helical pattern intertwined helically with the first wrap surface. The second wrap surface includes a second wrap surface texture that is different than the first wrap surface texture and a second wrap width that is less than the pitch. The first simulated wrap and the second simulated wrap are molded as a single body forming a shaft opening there within.

A golf grip for a golf club includes a cap, a body, a tip, and a grip surface. The body includes an under layer, a top layer, and a middle layer. The under layer includes a first color. The top layer includes a second color, different than the first color. The top layer is disposed on the under layer. The middle layer includes a third material. The middle layer is at least partially disposed between the under layer and the top layer. The tip is a portion of the under layer extending beyond the top layer and the middle layer. The grip surface extends between the cap and the tip. The grip surface is the radially outer surface of the body and includes the top layer, a plurality of exposed portions of the under layer, and a plurality of exposed portions of the middle layer.

A golf grip for a golf club includes a butt end, a tip end, a grip surface, and a gripping feature. The tip end includes a shaft opening. The grip surface extends between the butt end and the tip end. The grip surface is a tapered circular cylinder with an axis extending from the butt end to the tip end. The gripping feature includes a rake surface forming an acute angle with the grip surface. The rake surface extends into the grip at an acute angle relative to a plane perpendicular to the axis.

A composition for use in grips is disclosed. The composition may be used, for example, in making a golf club grip. The disclosed grip provides for improved shock absorption and other beneficial properties. In one embodiment the comprises a cross-linked composition of from about 40% by weight to about 80% by weight of one or a combination of a first material selected from the group consisting of butyl rubber, nitrile rubber, ethylene propylene rubber and chloroprene rubber, and from about 10% by weight to about 50% by weight of one or a combination of a second material selected from the group consisting of ethylene-propylene-diene copolymer (EPDM), polyurethane, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, polypropylene and cork.

Composition and manufacturing methods for grips

A golf club grip is composed of an elastomeric material formed into a tubular form adapted to be received on the butt end of a golf club shaft with the grip having an upper semi-cylindrical portion of rubber material with cork particles disbursed therein and with a lower semi-cylindrical portion of the grip having the tip end of the same material as the upper semi-cylindrical portion of the grip and with the butt end of the lower semi-cylindrical portion having exposed cord for enhanced friction between the grip and a user's hands. A compression molding process is described for forming the grip from component strips and pieces of an elastomeric material.
