The instant invention provides a polyethylene composition and process for polymerizing the same. The polyethylene composition according to the present invention comprises the polymerization reaction of ethylene and optionally one or more &#x3b1;-olefin comonomers in the presence of a catalyst system, wherein said polyethylene composition comprises at least 2 or more molecular weight distributions, measured via triple detector GPC low angle laser light scattering (GPC-LALLS), described in further details hereinbelow, wherein each molecular weight distribution has a peak, and wherein measured detector response of peak 1 divided by the measured detector response of peak 2 is in the range of from 0.50 to 0.79, for example from 0.55 to 0.77.

Polyethylene composition and process for polymerizing the same

Methods of preparing a polymerization catalyst component is provided, in which a magnesium component, a Lewis acid solubilizing component, a titanium compound, optionally a transition metal compound different than the titanium compound, and typically an inert filler are combined in a slurrying agent and spray-dried to produce a catalyst precursor in the form of a substantially spherical and porous solid particle. The methods and catalysts of this disclosure can provide ethylene homopolymer and copolymer resins having a high molecular weight tail and a broadened molecular weight distribution as compared to more traditional Ziegler-Natta catalysts.

Ziegler-natta catalyst compositions for producing polyethylenes with a high molecular weight tail and methods of making the same

A polyethylene composition comprising a granular polyethylene resin characterized by a resin solid density of from 0.91 to 0.97 g/cm, a ratio of intraparticle void volume to interparticle void volume of from 0.33 to 0.67, and a total resin porosity, &#x3a6;total, of equal to or greater than 0.45 is provided. Further provided are articles made from the polyethylene composition.

Polyethylene composition and articles made therefrom

A catalyst system for polymerizing olefin-based polymers and interpolymers is disclosed. The catalyst system may include a supported chromium catalyst and a Ziegler-Natta catalyst comprising a bulking agent, Mg, and Ti. The Ziegler-Natta catalysts in catalyst systems disclosed herein run exceptionally well without addition of excessive amounts of co-catalyst, thus allowing for use of chromium based supported catalysts that would otherwise be overwhelmed by aluminum alkyl. Further, embodiments disclosed herein may be run without an internal electron donor, and the lack of an internal electron donor in the system also prevents poisoning of the chromium catalysts by the internal electron donor. By including or co-feeding a chromium based catalyst with these Ziegler-Natta catalysts, it has been found that the molecular architecture of the resulting polyolefins, such as polyethylenes, may provide for resins with excellent processing properties.

Mixed compatible Ziegler-Natta / chromium catalysts for improved polymer products

The instant invention provides a method for polymerizing one or more ethylene-based polymers. The method for polymerizing one or more ethylene-based polymers according to the present invention comprises the following steps: (1) selecting ethylene and optionally one or more alpha-olefin comonomers; (2) selecting one or more catalyst systems comprising one or more procatalysts comprising Ti, one or more cocatalysts comprising Al, and one or more self-limiting agents (SLA); wherein the ratio of SLA to Ti is from 5:1 to 40:1 and the ratio of Al to SLA is from 2:1 to 40:1; (3) polymerizing said ethylene and optionally one or more alpha-olefin comonomers in the presence of said one or more catalyst systems via a slurry polymerization process or gas-phase polymerization process in one or more reactors; (4) thereby producing one or more ethylene; wherein said catalyst system has a loss of least 85% of catalyst productivity when the temperature is increased from 85 to 115 C.

Method for producing one or more ethylene-based polymers

The instant invention provides a polyolefin composition, a catalyst composition, and a method of producing the same. The method for polymerizing one or more polyolefins according to the present invention comprises the steps of: (1) selecting a first olefin monomer and optionally one or more alpha-olefin comonomers; (2) selecting one or more catalyst systems comprising one or more procatalysts comprising a first metal selected from the group consisting of Ti, V, Hf, Zr, and combinations or mixture two or more thereof, one or more cocatalysts comprising Al, and one or more self-limiting agents (SLA) selected from the group consisting of polyether, polyester, and combinations or mixtures thereof; wherein the ratio of said SLA to said first metal (SLA:first metal) is from 0.1:1 to 30:1; (3) polymerizing said first olefin monomer and optionally one or more alpha-olefin comonomers in the presence of said one or more catalyst systems via a slurry polymerization process or gas-phase polymerization process in one or more reactors; (4) thereby producing one or more olefin-based polymers; (5) wherein said catalyst system has a loss of least 85 percent of catalyst activity when the temperature is increased from 85 to 110&#xb0; C.

Polyolefin composition and method of producing the same

A virgin granular polymer comprising polymer particles wherein at least 90% by weight of the granular polymer particles, have an Ithat is within two standard deviations of a mean Iof the granular polymer, the ratio of the standard deviation of Ito the mean of the granular polymer is less than 0.2 and the ratio of the standard error of a linear fit to the mean of the granular polymer is less than 0.1, and further wherein the virgin granular polymer has an Iless than or equal to 70 and/or further wherein at least 90% by weight of the granular polymer particles, have a density that is within two standard deviations of a mean density of the granular polymer, the ratio of the standard deviation of the mean density of the granular polymer to the mean density of the granular polymer is less than 0.002 and the ratio of the standard error of a linear fit to the mean of the density is less than 0.001, and further wherein the virgin granular polymer has an Iless than or equal to 70 is provided.

A method for making a support impregnated Ziegler-Natta-type catalyst precursor including at least two transition metals and a support material wherein the resulting catalyst precursor is free-flowing is provided. The invention provides a composition comprising a blend, which comprises a high molecular weight ethylene-based polymer, and a low molecular weight ethylene-based polymer, and wherein the high molecular weight ethylene-based polymer has a density less than, or equal to, 0.955 g/cm, and wherein the blend has a high load melt index (I) greater than, or equal to, 15 g/10 min, and wherein the blend has a molecular weight distribution (M/M) greater than, or equal to, 15. The invention also provides a composition comprising a blend, which comprises a high molecular weight ethylene-based polymer and a low molecular weight ethylene-based polymer, and wherein the high molecular weight ethylene-based polymer component has a density less than, or equal to, 0.945 g/cm, and a melt index (I) less than, or equal to, 0.1 g/10 min, and wherein the blend has a high load melt index (I) less than, or equal to, 15 g/10 min, and a melt index (I) less than, or equal to 1 g/10 min, and a molecular weight distribution (M/M) greater than, or equal to, 15.
