A method for a system that runs a platform simulation and a network simulation of a radio network comprises probing the network simulation to determine effects produced between transmitter-receiver pairs represented within the network simulation; computing communication effects in response to the probing and saving the communication effects for later use; and when a communication event involving a transmitter-receiver pair occurs in the platform simulation, using the saved communication effects to simulate the communication effects for that event.

Communication effects in network simulations

Real-time, high fidelity communication effects are simulated. A transmitter in a platform simulation is requested to send a surrogate message to a receiver in the platform simulation. Communications effects are computed in response to the message, and the communications effects are saved for later use. When a future communication event involving the transmitter and receiver occurs, the saved effects are used to simulate the communication effects for that event.

Communications effects in network simulations

A packaged food article, comprising a package maintaining at least a partial vacuum and having at least a portion being flexible; and at least one food piece disposed therein in the form of a shaped solid composite mass comprising an aggregate base having a quantity of food particles, wherein at least a portion of the food piece is in conforming contact with the flexible package portion and wherein the food piece has a water activity of 0.45 or less is disclosed. In one embodiment the packaged food article further comprises binder. In most embodiments, the binder comprises 25% or less, by weight, of the product, resulting in a product that is less sweet than other grain-based handheld food products, yet retains a chewy texture. In another embodiment, highly oxygen sensitive ingredients are used as a food ingredient. The resulting product has a very long shelf life, maintaining its full color, texture and flavor for at least 3 months, up to about 12 months. Additionally, most of the frangible ingredients remain whole and there is minimal, if any, waste during manufacturing as no trimming is required.

Methods of making vacuum packaged food products

A layered cereal bar with at least two cereal layers having identifiable RTE cereal pieces and at least one visible filling layer in between the two cereal layers is described. In one embodiment, the cereal bar is a non-cooked cereal bar having a total nutrient level equal to or greater than the nutrient level of a single serving of RTE cereal with milk. In one embodiment, the cereal layer is comprised of a cereal composition containing RTE cereal, high-protein rice pieces and TVP in a ratio of about 2:1:1. The cereal layer further comprises a binder to hold the cereal composition together. In one embodiment, the filling layer is a confectionery center that is high in milk content, but possesses a relatively low water activity. In one embodiment, the filling layer is a low water activity fruit filling layer. In another embodiment, a method for manufacturing a layered cereal bar having a visible filling layer is described. The steps include mixing a binder with a cereal composition having identifiable cereal pieces to form an amorphous mass, compressing the amorphous mass into a first layer and a second layer, applying a filling layer on the first layer, combining the first layer and filling layer with the second layer, and pressing the first layer, filling layer and second layer together to form pressed layers, wherein the pressed layers are cut into individual cereal bars having identifiable cereal pieces.
