A clamping stand comprising a pair of cams, each cam operating as a cylindrical cam, having a clamping member facing the clamping member of an opposite clamping member for holding the object therebetween; and having a lower portion configured for arcuate motion connected by a linkage assembly that translates linear movement to rotational movement about a pivot axis, enabling uniform clamping pressure on an object through actuation of the linkage assembly and facilitating clamping through arcuate motion of the lower portions.

A vibration adjustable spacer (10) is disclosed. In a preferred implementation spacers 10, 10', 10' are used to damp the vibrational resonance of a number of printed circuit boards (42, 44, 46) in an assembly (40). The spacer (10) has an adjustable snubbing member (30) which extends to abut an essentially stationary surface (7) when the board is accelerated in one direction and a pivotable member (22) operating such that retraction of the snubbing member is impeded when the board is accelerated in the opposite direction.

Vibration adjustable spacer

A vibration adjustable spacer (10) is disclosed. In a preferred implementation spacers 10, 10', 10' are used to damp the vibrational resonance of a number of printed circuit boards (42, 44, 46) in an assembly (40). The spacer (10) has an adjustable snubbing means (30) which extends to abut an essentially stationary surface (7) when the board is accelerated in one direction and a pivotable means (22) operating such that retraction of the snubbing means is impeded when the board is accelerated in the opposite direction.

The invention provides a quiet, reliable and quick acting 'no-back' action for synchronous motors utilizing permanent magnet rotors which have minimum power in self-starting and are prone to be erratic in direction of starting. This fallibility arises at least in part from the expense and difficulty of working to the accuracy which would be required to make the motor less uncertain in starting.
