(1) A construction for reciprocating and rotating a lance comprising a frame, attachment structure for securing said frame relative to a tube to be cleaned, lance reciprocating and rotating mechanism on said frame substantially adjacent said tube, a carriage for attachment to the end of the lance remote from said tube, a swivel connection on the carriage for permitting rotation of the lance while high pressure water is being fed thereto, a carriage support for supporting said carriage for movement toward and away from said tube, and a mounting arrangement for mounting said carriage support. (2) A frame for mounting a lance advancing mechanism including first and second spaced frame members, clamp members for attaching the first and second frame members to the end plate of a tube bundle, track members extending between the first and second frame members, a carriage for mounting a lance advancing mechanism mounted on the track members, an adjustment arrangement for varying the position of the track members relative to the end plate, and indexing members for varying the position of the carriage on the track members.

Cleaning apparatus for tubes and tube bundles

A tube cleaning lance tip construction including a body portion, a first bore extending longitudinally of the body portion, a plurality of second bores extending between the first bore and the outer surface of the body portion for causing liquid to be ejected with a net lateral force component to bias the body portion against the inside of the tube in which the lance tip is located, and first and second rows of axially spaced blades on the opposite side of the body portion from the second bores, said blades having axial and radial cutting edges for removing incrustations from the tube as the lance tip rotates and advances axially through the tube.

Lance tip construction

A tube cleaning lance tip construction for rotation within a tube comprising a body portion, a bore arrangement in the body portion for causing liquid to be ejected with a lateral component creating a reactive force for biasing the body portion toward the inside of the tube, a blade on the opposite side of the body portion from the bore arrangement for removing incrustations from the inside of the tube, the bore arrangement being positioned relative to the longitudinal axis of the body portion to cause the reactive force to be in the direction of rotation of the body portion, and stabilizing blades on the body portion for limiting layover of the blade and for tending to maintain the axis of the lance tip parallel to the axis of the tube and for aiding in the removal of incrustations.

A tube cleaning lance tip construction including a body portion, a first bore extending longitudinally of said body portion for receiving high pressure liquid, a line of second bores in communication with said first bore and extending longitudinally of said body portion for conducting high pressure liquid to the outside of said body portion, said second bores terminating at planar surfaces extending transversely to the longitudinal axis of said body portion, serrated edges on the body portion, and a blade extending longitudinally of said body portion and being located generally diametrically opposite to said line of second bores so as to engage the inside of said tube with a force produced by the reaction from the liquid emanating from said second bores.
