The invention provides an engine for obtaining kinetic rotational energy from the explosive decomposition of individual cartridges of an energetic material. The cartridges are individually ignited as needed, producing a bolus of hot, expanding gas, the energy of which is captured by a piston moving in a circular track. Each cartridge ignition produces a single circuit of the piston around the track. A gearing mechanism transfers the angular momentum of the piston to a flywheel. The engine may be coupled to an electrical generator to form a portable, on-demand electric generator system.

Methods and systems for detecting and identifying one or more objects in the vicinity using radio frequency signals, excluding visible spectrum frequencies, (the 'non-visible RF signals') and displaying an AR image with an AR element associated with each of the one or more identified objects are disclosed. An exemplary method includes the steps of: detecting and registering one or more objects in the vicinity of a mobile device by non-visible RF signals; tracking the registered objects; rendering the AR elements associated with the registered objects; and displaying an AR image with the AR elements anchored to the associated objects in the visual scan area of the mobile device. This embodiment may further include a step of rendering a special kind of AR elements, called LARI AR elements, that includes a boundary and a cut-out area, and the associated AR effect rendered is limited to the area in the boundary but excluding the cut-out area. As such, in this embodiment, the object with a LARI AR element would appear entirely or partially framed by the AR element in the AR image.

Methods and systems for detecting objects by non-visible radio frequencies and displaying associated augmented reality effects

An exemplary sterilization system includes a self-propelled robotic mobile platform for locating and eradicating infectious bacterial and virus strains on floors (and objects thereon), walls, cabinets, angled structures, etc., using one or more ultraviolet light sources. A controller allows the system to adjust the quantity of ultraviolet light received by a surface by, for example, changing the intensity of energy input to a ultraviolet light source, changing a distance between a ultraviolet light source and a surface being irradiated, changing the speed/movement of the mobile platform to affect time of exposure, and/or by returning to contaminated areas for additional passes. The mobile platform may include a sensor capable of detecting fluorescence of biological contaminants irradiated with ultraviolet light to locate contaminated areas. The system is thus capable of 'seek and destroy' functionality by navigating towards contaminated areas and irradiating those areas with ultraviolet light accordingly.

A rescue device is disclosed for rescuing a child from a life threatening situation. The device includes a container for the reception therein of the child. A cover cooperates with the container such that when the child has been placed within the container, the container and the cover cooperate together to define a safe enclosure for the evacuation of the child from the life threatening situation.

An identification system distinguishes among a set of individual containers. The identification system has an identifier member associated with each of the containers in the set for facilitating visual discrimination of each of the containers from the others of the set. The identifier member of each container in the set has distinct and visibly different printed identifying indicia positioned over a surface portion of the container, and an opaque covering material covering the printed identifying indicia. The opaque covering material is removable to selectively expose a preselected one of the printed identifying indicia so that during consumption of the contents of the container a user may readily distinguish his container from the other containers in the set by visual inspection of the exposed printed identifying indicia.

The disclosed invention is a pincer tool comprising two opposably attached arms, one arm ending in an least substantially transparent sight-piece and the other arm ending in a positioning surface comprising at least one indentation well, whereby an item to be viewed such as jewelry or other small items are held in position by the sight-piece, thereby allowing the item to be viewed from directly above the sight-piece.

This invention relates to an apparatus and method for creating visual images on a display area. This invention uses the selective convergence of traveling electrical signals to cause selected display locations located across a display area to illuminate or to change their visual appearances. The apparatus of the invention includes a display mechanism that either illuminates or changes its visual appearance when activated, at least one signal propagation path that directs the propagation of the signals across the display area, and signal control equipment for selectively transmitting the signals. In a preferred embodiment first and second signal propagation paths provide unique propagation paths that pass through each of a the display locations across the area of the display. The signal control equipment selectively delays the transmission of the second signal relative to the first signal causing the signals to converge at a selected location to produce a change in the visual appearance of the screen at the selected location. By repeatedly altering the appearance of display locations across the display area, visual images may be produced. Requiring as few as one screen driver, the hardware requirements of the invention are minimal. The present invention also includes a method for producing visual images using the above described apparatus. Further disclosed are apparatus for continuing the display signal once activated and for better directing the electrical signals to produce an activating signal at a selected display location. Further included are apparatus and methods for selectively activating each of the plurality of display locations across the display area using signal trains made up of a plurality of selectively controlled pulses.

A stun grenade includes a tubular housing to slidably receive a munitions canister. A cup-shaped end cap closes one end of the housing and frictionally engages an outer wax-coated surface of the housing adjacent the end. At the other end a fuze retention disk is retained in the housing and has a threaded opening to receive any one of several possible fuze assemblies. When using a manually operable fuze, the handle thereof is provided with a color-coded coating to identify the nature of the explosive charge provided in the grenade. The handle also has one or more lumps formed thereon to provide a tactile code, consistent with the color, to identify the grenade type. The fuze retention disk includes spikes establishing a fixed spacing between the munitions canister and the fuze held in the fuze retention disk.
