A liquid confinement type of leak detection system for a liquid retaining chamber defined by an inner wall of the system. The leak detection system also includes an outer wall in closely spaced adjacent relation to the inner wall to define a normally liquidtight leak detection chamber therebetween, and a porous material disposed between the inner and outer walls so as to be in contact with the inner and outer walls in a manner forming a structural bond therewith. Further, the leak detection system includes sensors associated with the porous material at selected points in the leak detection chamber.

Liquid confinement leak detection system

A tubular member having a liner adhesively affixed to an inner surface thereof. The liner comprises a porous material formed from a plurality of needle-punched unwoven fibers so as to have a pair of oppositely facing surfaces. The liner also includes a first mat of finespun woven filaments of glass defining an inner surface thereof and a second mat of finespun woven filaments of glass defining an outer surface thereof. The inner and outer surfaces of the liner, formed by the first and second mats, are generally coextensive with the porous material. The liner also includes the first mat being secured to an inwardly facing surface of the porous material and the second mat being secured to an outwardly facing surface of the porous material. The liner is adhesively impregnated so as to adhesively bond the outer surface of the liner to the inner surface of the tubular member. Further, a method of lining a tubular member by adhesively bonding a liner to the tubular member is disclosed.

A liquid storage tank having at least a liquid-retaining wall and usually a structural outer wall and including a porous material therebetween. The porous material forms a structural interconnection with the wall or walls to prevent them from peeling apart and is also typically adapted to wick any liquid which comes in contact with it. Further, the storage tank may have sensors associated with the porous material at strategic points for detecting the presence of a leak. A method of making a storage tank for a liquid is provided wherein at least a liquid-retaining wall and usually a structural outer wall is provided or formed. A porous material typically having a barrier layer formed on one surface thereof is applied to a surface of one of the walls by placing the surface opposite the barrier layer thereon. Further, at least one type of liquid sensor may be installed in the porous material at strategic points for detecting the presence of a leak in the storage tank.

Storage tank and method of making a storage tank

An improved process for the high speed production of structural preforms and molding the preform to produce a product having desired and predetermined fiber directionality and distribution. Continuous strand glass fiber is directly applied to a preform screen along with a resinous binder material. The fiber/binder composite preform is cured. The cured composite preform is transferred to a mold where the composite is injected with a resin and thereafter cured in the mold.

A tub assembly is provided wherein a bathtub assembly comprised of a bowl section having an apron extending downwardly therefrom and a pivotally mounted apron brace releasably secured to the bottom of the bowl in a first position to permit nestable stacking of one tub assembly within another for shipping and rigidly securable in a second position to provide lateral support to the apron.

Composite sheets of low pressure molding compounds sandwiched between films of polyethylene are thickened to a viscosity at which the film can be stripped from the composite by the application of low temperatures to at least the surface of the sandwiched composite.

Low temperature maturation of sheet molding compositions

A method of making a cylindrical electrical conductor or roving comprised of a bundle of conductive glass filaments, wherein the filaments are cured under tension in a flat ribbon-like form. The method includes binding the filaments into a preferred cylindrical bundle or roving by the steps of passing the filament bundle through the axial bore of an annular bobbin having a binder yarn or element thereon and rotating the bobbin to centrifugally throw the yarn in an unconfined balloon. The free end of the yarn is secured to the filament bundle, thereby wrapping the bundle with a helical overwrap. The balloon of yarn is controlled and stabilized by air currents generated adjacent the bobbin.

Method and apparatus for making electric conductor

Method of and apparatus for producing roving with a controlled number of strands including means for linearly advancing each of the strands along a given path; strand motion detection means effective to sense movement of each of the strands during its advancement and to supply individual motion signals for each of the strands in response to the sensed movement; and means responsive to the frequency of the individual intermittent motion signals for controlling the strand advancing means.

Apparatus for and method of handling linear elements

Apparatus for packaging roving from a plurality of continuous glass strands. The apparatus comprising means for tensioning the roving along its path to the collector including a first and a second bar in spaced relation located at opposite sides of the path and upon which the roving is turned during its travel to the collector. The apparatus also having means to movably hold one of the bars and to control the movement and position of the bar so that the tension in the roving can be varied and controlled as the roving is wound on the collector.
