Imager units

In one embodiment, a method for printing a bar in a bar code includes computing a print resolution for printing the bar using Bar Width, Dot Size and Number of Dots where Bar Width is a desired width of the bar, Dot Size is a nominal dimension of each dot measured in a direction across the width of the bar and Number of Dots is a number of dots to be printed across the width of the bar, and adjusting a spacing between dots based on the computed print resolution.

A system includes a carrier, one or more printheads coupled with the carrier in a defined spatial relation, and alignment information associated with the carrier and identifying the defined spatial relation of one or more printheads.

A printing system includes an ink reservoir, a support, a fluid conduit and a printhead assembly. The fluid conduit is fluidly coupled to the ink reservoir and includes a first fluid coupler. The printhead assembly includes a body configured to be releasably coupled to the support, a plurality of printheads coupled to the body including a first printhead and a second printhead, and a fluid passage fluidly coupled to both the first printhead and the second printhead. The fluid passage includes a second fluid coupler releasably coupled to the first fluid coupler.

Methods and systems for operating inkjet printers on production lines

A printer with a carriage adapted to receive a printhead capable of printing an ink at an effective nozzle density along a medium advance axis. The printhead includes a plurality of substantially parallel columnar arrays of nozzles, each columnar array having an actual nozzle density along the medium advance axis less than the effective nozzle density. An alignment structure in the carriage orients the printhead to print at the actual nozzle density along the medium advance axis such that individual nozzles in different ones of the columnar arrays can deposit ink on a print medium in a row substantially orthogonal to the medium advance axis.
