A method utilizing intentionally generated in-band frequency harmonics to compensate for frequency error and frequency drift in a voltage controlled oscillator of a receiver, thereby eliminating the frequency synthesizer and RF divider required in conventional designs. The method includes modulating the intentionally generated frequency in a predetermined manner so that a receiver can identify the intentionally generated frequency and includes the use of plural frequency harmonics for use in a curve fitting technique to correct frequency error in the voltage controlled oscillator.

An insulated food box construction 10 comprising a receptacle unit 11 including a reinforced generally rectangular receptacle member 20 having an open top, a closure unit 12 including a pair of transparent lid panels 40 hingedly connected to the receptacle member 20 and dimensioned to overlie the open top of the receptacle member 20. Each of the lid panels 40 are provided with a pair of 'stay open/stay closed' support arms and a support unit 13 including a pair of pivoted support legs 50 operatively associated with the receptacle member 20 for elevating the receptacle member 20 to a serving height during use.

Insulated food box construction

A system and method for receiving direct sequence spread spectrum transmissions with both chip code and frequency uncertainty including a parallel frequency acquisition technique for increasing receiver sensitivity and increasing process gain while reducing a preamble duration required for spread spectrum acquisition. The system and method include techniques for reducing effects of jamming and impulse noise on receiver performance via enhanced antenna diversity by constructively combining received signals. Further, techniques are provided which compensate for chip code alignment drift, providing an associated transmitter maintains carrier and chip code coherence, by comparing received signal energies at varying chip code alignments. These techniques enable the use of lower cost frequency setting crystals in both the receiver and transmitter as well as provide for system operation over a wider temperature range.

Direct sequence frequency ambiguity resolving receiver

An enhanced frequency-agile radio for avoiding undesired signal energy, based on a prediction, by scanning an available radio spectrum, measuring a receiver output, identifying an occupied portion of the available spectrum, predicting a level of undesired signal energy in a future scan, and storing the prediction. Enhancements provided by the frequency-agile radio include lowered implementation complexity appropriate for very low cost receivers and transceivers, reduced size due to elimination of larger components allowing for physically small pocket pager applications, increased anti-jam performance appropriate for wide area networks, increased receiver sensitivity and frequency tracking desirable for voice applications, enhanced signal coding error tolerance allowing operation within congested portions of the radio band and additional signal verification means which allow correct data reception from thousands of concurrently operating, collision prone transmit-only devices such as power utility meters and long range security systems.

A device which monitors the through passage of incompressible fluids such as water that relies upon a nutating disk-type transducer associated with a spherical hollow core. The disk includes a spindle which precesses in the presence of a sensor. A display panel is driven by a microcontroller which converts the precession of the spindle to useful output as a function of time whereby the precession correlates with volume flow through the nutating disk transducer.

A wireless alarm system using spread spectrum transmitters, fast frequency shift keying, spread spectrum receivers and computer with a display. The spread spectrum transmitter includes an oscillator coupled to a microprocessor with chip code generation means, preamble register, address register and data register. The spread spectrum receiver acquires synchronization of the spread spectrum signal using a microprocessor coupled to the quieting, signal strength or baseband output of the receiver, with a two step algorithm. The steps comprise achieving a coarse lock and a fine lock to the spread spectrum signal.

Wireless alarm system

A wheel chair restraint that includes a bracket that attaches to the wall of a hospital hallway at a desired height. The bracket includes an envelope with a top opening and a vertical slot for receiving a T-shape latch. The latch is tethered to the wheel chair and can be readily connected or disconnected to the bracket. This satisfies the combined safety requirements of keeping a clear pathway through the hallway while also enabling quick disconnect of the latch for emergency evacuation in a catastrophe situation such as a fire.
