A fin-type planar antenna and a deployable dipole antenna are combined into a probabilistic system as a co-located orthogonal diversity fin antenna to reduce or eliminate cross polarization fades and cancellation dropouts common to wireless audio systems used in theaters, churches and convention centers over coaxial wired connections. Additionally, an optical line may connect the diversity fin antenna to a further circuit. The antenna system features broad bandwidth, resistance to deep nulls or fades caused by cross polarization, resistance to destructive interference, and an air space dielectric covering provides resistance to detuning in the presence of rain, or touching objects.

Diversity fin antenna

A diversity antenna for receiving radio frequency (RF) signals includes a horizontally-polarized antenna element coupled to a vertically-polarized antenna element in a fixed orthogonal relationship. The vertically-polarized antenna element is a blade antenna which includes a vertically-oriented printed circuit board (PCB) on which is disposed a pair of conductive strips. The horizontally-polarized antenna element includes two loop antennas which are arranged and conductively coupled in parallel. Each loop antenna includes a horizontally-oriented, disc-shaped PCB on which is disposed a pair of conductive loops. To facilitate the orthogonal coupling between the pair of antenna elements, each disc-shaped PCB includes a central slot dimensioned to receive the vertically-oriented PCB. In operation, the independent signal feeds produced by the first and second antenna elements can be processed to reduce any cross-polarization effects present in either signal feed, thereby providing the diversity antenna with full, omnidirectional signal coverage.

Diversity antenna with a uniform omnidirectional radiation pattern

A radio frequency (RF) antenna assembly is mounted on a shielded panel to facilitate the transmission of RF signals therethrough. The RF antenna assembly includes an RF antenna formed from wire which is bent to define first and second antenna elements. The RF antenna is inserted through the panel with the first and second antenna elements disposed on opposite sides thereof. A dome-shaped cap constructed of a compressible elastomeric material is mounted over the first antenna element and lies flush against the outer surface of the panel. A disc-shaped dielectric base receives the distal end of the second antenna element and lies flush against the inner surface of the panel. The RF antenna exerts a spring-like force that resiliently draws the cap and base together. In use, each antenna element transmits RF signals within a designated frequency range to wireless electronic devices located on the same side of the panel.

Radio frequency antenna assembly

A conformal antenna system comprising one or more proximate antenna elements for very reliable localized reception and transmission of radiowave energy and power particularly in frequency controlled VHF, UHF and microwave spectrum is described. The system incorporates effective angle or proximity dependent interference mitigation for conventional transmitters/receivers or master controlled constellations of wireless devices, and is suitable for temporary or permanent installation and use in a variety of outdoor and in-building locations. The antenna elements are configured and optimized for close proximity but unobtrusive positioning near the point of use on stages, in concert halls, movie studios, houses-of-worship, and convention centers, and are configured to be relatively unaffected by people or furniture in very close proximity. Methods for manufacturing and using close proximity antennas are disclosed, as are systems and methods for the generation and control of signals thereto.

Wireless conformal antenna system and method of operation

A spiral, helical antenna is configured to produce a generally circular polarized radiation pattern covering a range of frequencies, over a ground plane. The antenna is comprised of a spring-like spiral conductor that may be held in compression by a size and shape regulating outer nonconductive membrane. The assembly may be compressed and or extended to adjust the antenna for best performance in a particular situation. The assembly may be compressed into a generally flattened state for storage and or transportation, and extended at a later time for use. Accurate antenna dimensions and good performance are afforded by the use of high quality spring materials in conjunction with precise membrane dimensions.

Adjustable spiral antenna for portable use

Dendritic electronic circuits for RFID

A miniaturized spectrometer is adapted for placement within a body near tissue to be characterized. The spectrometer includes a light source and a plurality of light detectors. The light source generates light to illuminate the tissue. The detectors detect optical signals from the illuminated tissue and convert these optical signals to electrical signals. The miniaturized spectrometer can be disposed at the distal end of an interventional device. Optical conduits, such as fiber optic cables or strands, extending the length of the interventional device are not required when the miniature spectrometer is employed.

A zone effective ground-position-responsive wifi hotspot system comprising a first antenna arranged within a zone, responsive to any of a wide variety of various manufacturers different wireless ground-position-indicative RF communication devices, a transmission line for transmitting RF signals to and from the wide variety of various manufacturers different ground-position-indicative RF communication devices utilized within the zone, and a control unit arranged in a link between the first antenna arranged within the zone, and the transmission line, the control unit enabled to be responsive to a variety of different wireless ground-position-indicative RF communication devices, to enable controlled wireless RF communication to and from the zone.

Wifi hotspot arrangement

In one embodiment, the invention provides an imaging device having a light source, a photo-sensor and a scanning assembly. In some embodiments, the light source is fixedly mounted in the first end of an elongated sheath and is adapted for illuminating a target, and the photo-sensor is mounted on the scanning assembly, also in the first end of the elongated sheath, and is adapted to detect light energy from the target. In other embodiments, the light source is movably mounted and the detector is held stationary. In other embodiments, both the light source and the photo-sensor are movably mounted. The scanning devices synchronously capture light energy from each of a plurality locations on the target, the light energy resulting from illumination by the light source, and synchronously digitizes the output from the photo-sensor from each of the plurality of locations on the target to generate an image of the target.
