A solenoid actuated valve has a magnetic armature slidably received in a closed guide member secured to the valve body by a spin welded ring. The armature guide has external peripheral teeth which interengage corresponding internal teeth on the solenoid coil assembly to permit any desired rotational orientation of the coil when assembled onto the guide. The coil assembly is secured in the desired rotational position by interengagement of the teeth and is secured axially by snap tabs formed on the end of the guide.

Electric valve assembly and method of making same

A diverter valve for diverting fluid flow between an inlet and an outlet selected from among several outlets is disclosed. The diverter valve disclosed is useful for distributing fluids in laundry applications, especially automatic clothes washers and the like. It includes a body, a valve member, a motor to operate the valve, an actuable switch, a cam mechanism to de-energize the motor upon movement to a position, and a housing for the device.

Motorized diverter valve

A unitary cup-shaped grid member having a grid of holes in the closed end is inserted in the inlet of a valve and a cup-shaped fine-mesh primary filter screen inserted therein and snap-locked in place. In the event the screen clogs and is removed by the user, the grid provides some back-up or auxiliary course filtering to protect the valve in service after removal of the primary filter screen.

Filtering flow in a valve

A filter for a valve inlet is drawn into a flat-bottomed cup shape from a blank of fine mesh woven screen and formed with an outwardly extending mounting flange of material folded back on itself. The region of the cup-shape proximate the flange is enlarged to a predetermined diameter for closely interfitting the flow passage into which the cup-shaped member is installed.

Filter screen and method of making same

A flow noise reduction assembly having a fixed flow limiting orifice or an inlet pressure responsive flow control washer having a flow limiting orifice. A conically faced diverter is disposed closely adjacent the downstream face of the orifice and an expansion chamber is disposed downstream of the flow diverter for noise attenuation.

Flow noise reduction

A pilot operated electromagnetically actuated valve having a flexible diaphragm main valve operator with a rigid insert forming the pilot valve seat and passage. The pilot valving chamber cover serves as an armature pilot valve guide and also has plural spaced ribs engaging and guiding movement of the rigid insert and pilot valve seat. A separate inlet passage having an annular filter formed by circumferentially spaced grooves and a resilient flange provided on a disc member inserted in the valve inlet flow to a remote pilot bleed hole in the cover for supplying the pilot valving chamber.
