A method includes obtaining road patch type data associated with at least one road patch type, deriving, from the road patch type data, a set of road patch type parameters for the at least one road patch type, generating, based on the set of road patch type parameters, a set of risk metrics, each risk metric of the set of risk metrics corresponding to a respective road patch type parameter of the set of road patch type parameters, identifying, based at least in part on the set of risk metrics, a set of autonomous vehicle (AV) motion planning constraints selected for the at least one road patch type, and providing the set of AV motion planning constraints to update motion planning functionality performed by at least one component of an AV.

Motion planning constraints for autonomous vehicles

An interactive system can utilize microtechnology (e.g., a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS)), such as miniaturized microphone (e.g., a bone-conducting microphone), audio output device, microprocessor, and signal conversion and propagation means to create a personal area network (PAN) for a user. The system can include a voice input device (e.g., worn on one or more teeth of the user) that outputs a near-field magnetic induction (NFMI) signal based on a whisper input by the user. The NFMI signal is either detected by the user's mobile device, or converted into a wireless signal (e.g., a Bluetooth RF signal) detectable by the user's mobile device, for receiving voice commands (e.g., to provide personal assistant services) via a designated application running on the mobile device.

Systems and methods for generating and displaying groupings of content recommendations using personas are provided. The system determines content for each of the plurality of personas. The determined content for each of the plurality of personas comprises content that shares a common genre or theme for each persona. The system populates each of the plurality of personas using the determined content for each of the plurality of personas. The system then causes display of at least some of the plurality of personas on a viewing device of a user. The at least some of the plurality of personas is selected for the user based on device data corresponding to the user, whereby the device data indicates user preferences and interactions with previous content.

Content recommendations using personas

This relates to systems and methods for measuring a concentration and type of substance in a sample at a sampling interface. The systems can include a light source, optics, one or more modulators, a reference, a detector, and a controller. The systems and methods disclosed can be capable of accounting for drift originating from the light source, one or more optics, and the detector by sharing one or more components between different measurement light paths. Additionally, the systems can be capable of differentiating between different types of drift and eliminating erroneous measurements due to stray light with the placement of one or more modulators between the light source and the sample or reference. Furthermore, the systems can be capable of detecting the substance along various locations and depths within the sample by mapping a detector pixel and a microoptics to the location and depth in the sample.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to providing transportation services with autonomous vehicles. For instance, a first route to a first destination may be determined. The first route may have a first cost. Weather information for the first destination may be received. A characteristic is determined based on the weather information. A second destination having the characteristic may be selected. The second destination may be different from the first destination. A second route to the second destination may be determined. The second route may have a second cost. The first cost may be compared to the second cost, and the vehicle may use the comparison to set one of the first destination or the second destination as a current destination for a vehicle to cause the vehicle to control itself in an autonomous driving mode to the current destination.

Leveraging weather information to improve passenger pickup and drop offs for autonomous vehicles

Aspects of the disclosure relate to generating a puddle occupancy grid including a plurality of cells. For instance, a first probability value for a puddle being located at a first location generated using sensor data from a first sensor may be received. A second probability value for a puddle being located at a second location generating using sensor data from a second sensor different from the first sensor may be received. A first cell may be identified from the plurality of cells using the first location. The first cell may also be identified using the second location. A value for the cell may be generated using the first probability value and the second probability value.

Puddle occupancy grid for autonomous vehicles

The disclosure relates to managing a fleet of autonomous vehicles. For instance, a method may include receiving, from a plurality of the autonomous vehicles of the fleet, reports identifying locations of detected puddles. A miles per puddle rate may be determined based on the received reports. An operating policy for the fleet may be determined based on the miles per puddle rate. An instruction may be sent to one or more of the autonomous vehicles of the fleet in order to implement the operating policy.

Real time fleet management for autonomous vehicles using puddle mapping

Methods and systems for measuring one or more properties of a sample are disclosed. The methods and systems can include multiplexing measurements of signals associated with a plurality of wavelengths without adding any signal independent noise and without increasing the total measurement time. One or more levels of encoding, where, in some examples, a level of encoding can be nested within one or more other levels of encoding. Multiplexing can include wavelength, position, and detector state multiplexing. In some examples, SNR can be enhanced by grouping together one or more signals based on one or more properties including, but not limited to, signal intensity, drift properties, optical power detected, wavelength, location within one or more components, material properties of the light sources, and electrical power. In some examples, the system can be configured for optimizing the conditions of each group individually based on the properties of a given group.

Multiplexing and encoding for reference switching

A machine detects a set of first control operations and, in response, causes a display screen to present a graphical interface in which a central window suggests first content by presenting a first preview and a first identifier superimposed on the first preview. The machine then detects a second control operation that indicates dismissal of the first content. In response to the second control operation, the machine causes the display screen to present a transition to an interest-improved version of the graphical interface. The transition includes sliding the first preview, the first identifier, a second preview, and a second identifier together in a shared direction and at a shared speed within the central window. The second preview and the second identifier correspond to second content. In the interest-improved version of the graphical interface, the central window suggests the second content by presenting the second preview and the second identifier.
