A spacing device which holds earphones away from the ears to create a sense of live music when the earphones are used in conjunction with loudspeakers. The spacers allow sound from loudspeakers set away from the user to reach the ear from all directions. A volume control connected between the earphones and amplifier provides sound level adjustment for creating an optimal condition of presence as sensed by the listener.

A spacing device which holds earphones away from the ears to create a sense of live music when the earphones are used in conjunction with loudspeakers. The spacers allow sound from loudspeakers set away from the user to reach the ear from all directions. When the spacer is worn to hold earphones a distance from the ear while listening to recorded music played through both earphones and loudspeakers from the same source the user experiences an increase in ambience or sense of concert-hall realism.

A vehicle monitor (10) apparatus for monitoring vehicles (14) in a monitoring location (17). A vehicle unit (12) mountable in a vehicle includes circuitry (21) for transmitting, on a continuous repetitive basis, information characterizing the vehicle and unique thereto. In addition, a monitoring unit (16) mountable at the monitoring location includes circuitry (33) for receiving information transmitted by the vehicle unit. Such monitoring circuitry includes an infrared light receiver (29) and a preamplifier with ambient light compensation circuitry (100) connected thereacross.

Vehicle monitor apparatus

An electronic fuel control system for controlling the rate at which fuel is supplied to a gas turbine engine which controls turbine speed, acceleration, and combustor temperature as a function of ambient temperature and turbine speed. A predetermined fuel schedule controls the maximum and minimum amount of fuel supplied to the gas turbine engine during transient and steady-state operation, and sequences operation from a starting fuel schedule to a running fuel schedule. A transient fuel boosting function temporarily overrides the temperature limit control when a speed increase is called for.

Electronic fuel control system for a gas turbine engine

A commutation circuit for an inverter has a capacitor which is charged prior to commutation of the inverter from an auxiliary dc power source instead of by the principal dc power supply for the inverter. Polarity of the voltage on the capacitor is reversed prior to start of commutation by a switch that connects a first inductor across the capacitor to establish a first capacitor current path through the first inductor. No portion of thee first capacitor current by which the capacitor achieves its reverse polarity flows through the inverter. After the polarity of voltage on the capacitor has been reversed the capacitor is connected by switching so as to apply reverse polarity voltage to the dc input busses of the inverter. Commutation current then flows through the inverter, but not through the first inductor. A separate inductor is provided for the commutation current, in series with the capacitor and the inverter. The circuit is particularly advantageous for apparatus in which the principal dc power supply provides an adjustable dc voltage, because the energy available from this circuit for commutation is not significantly diminished by adjustment of the principal dc power supply to low voltage levels because the auxiliary dc power supply becomes effective at the low levels.
