An improved pair of goggles capable of allowing one eye at a time to view things peripherally, which comprises: an opaque, translucent or tinted transparent front part of the goggles which fits in front of and covers the eyes of a wearer of the goggles, said front part having at least one window through which the wearer can view things by the outer periphery of the wearer's field of vision, a cover for the window which is capable of selectively covering the window or allowing the wearer to view things and a part that allows the wearer to wear the goggles.

A safety attachment for a ladder is disclosed as including an extruded channel fixed to the top of the ladder with a screw shaft having left and right hand threads disposed in the channel, pole engaging arms extend from guides mounted on the shaft threads for movement of the arm to engage and disengage relative to the pole. A pulley fixed to the shaft rotates the same by means of a rope having ends extending toward the bottom of the ladder whereby the pulley may be operated either at the top or the bottom of the ladder.

Hemodialysis ultrafiltration apparatus comprises a hemodialyzer, a supply line for supplying fresh dialysate to the hemodialyzer. A drain line is provided for removing spent dialysate from the hemodialyzer. The dialyzer is adapted to be connected to a patient so that the patient's blood may be supplied to and removed from the hemodialyzer. A weighing mechanism allows a fixed amount of fresh dialysate, by weight, to flow through the hemodialyzer. Spent dialysate emerging from the hemodialyzer is then weighed by the weighing device to determine the weight differential therebetween to monitor and control the amount and rate of ultrafiltrate removed from blood in the hemodialyzer. A method of hemodialytic ultrafiltration is carried out substantially in accordance with the above-described apparatus.

A microprocessor operated telecommunications interface for connection to a telecommunications line to provide transmission of data between a dedicated terminal of an automatic teletypewriter switching service of the type operating in one code and a data base of the type operating in another code is disclosed. The interface includes a microprocessing unit, a memory for operating the microprocessing unit, a random access memory, a telecommunications modem, means for formating and controlling serial a synchronous data communication and at least two user-actuatable switches for selecting a function of the interface. One function selecting switch accesses the microprocessor unit to the user terminal to provide for entry and editing of message information while a second function selecting means actuates the telecommunications to dial the data base using dialing information stored in the random access memory. The interface is an addition to a conventional terminal of a teletypewriter switching service which permits the terminal to be used for purposes other than those for which it is intended.

An electronic temperature control system utilizes a circuit having two main terminals for connection to a low voltage relay control system of the type generally used in residential heating or cooling systems without the need for an auxiliary source of power. The circuit includes a temperature sensing thermistor, an adjustable reference voltage control, a programmable unijunction transistor voltage threshold detector circuit, power switching thyristor means and bridge diodes. Heat anticipation is provided by thermally coupling the thyristor switching means and the temperature sensing thermistor.
