A children's swing has an elongated beam with opposite ends and a mid portion providing a seating platform for at least two children. Pivotally attached to the opposite ends of the beam are a pair of rigid rockers, each rocker having an upper end defining hand grips and a lower end defining a foot rest. To use the rocker, the children sit on the beam back to back with their hands and feet on the hand grips and foot rests of the rockers in front of them. When the children rock the rockers in synchronism, the swing will swing to and fro with ever increasing amplitude due to the inertia of the children's limbs and changes in the included angles between the rockers and the beam.

A kit for assembling wood legs to form an A-frame to support the end of a cross beam for a children's play gym includes a trapezoidal frame bracket to connect the upper ends of the legs to each other and to the cross beam and a special frame brace for reinforcing that connection which will accommodate a tubular metal cross beam or a cross beam consisting of a single board or a plurality of boards. The frame brace has a generally rectangular top wall and a pair of laterally spaced apart side walls extending down from the top wall at an angle such that the side walls have more or less the same slope as the side edges of the frame bracket. Portions of the frame brace top wall define a first set of holes spaced apart along the longitudinal centerline of the top wall, there being two such holes in the first set and a second set of holes containing at least two holes spaced along the top wall on each side of that centerline. There also may be a third set of holes containing at least two holes spaced along the top wall on each side of the centerline and being displaced from the second set of holes. The kit also includes fasteners arranged to extend through the first set of holes into the cross beam when the cross beam is a unitary member and through the second and third sets of holes into the cross beam when the cross beam is of wood so that the same hardware can be used to construct play gyms having a variety of different type cross beams.

An improved steering assembly for a tricycle comprises a front fork whose tubular stem is received in a head tube and has a flat area which is engaged by an internal projection extending from the wall of the head tube toward the head tube axis so as to limit the angular excursions of the fork about that axis and thereby prevent the tricycle from tipping over due to oversteering.

A spring connection assembly for a bouncing toy to connect a seating platform to a support includes an elongated support member, an eyelet mounted to the support member for rotation about the member axis, a coil spring having an end hook hooked through the eyelet and a clip having a clip portion extending parallel to the spring hook but in the opposite direction and a base portion retained within the end of the spring.

Collapsible stroller

A wheel capable of being used as the front or rear wheel of a chain-driven velocipede or as the front wheel of a pedal-driven tricycle has a wheel rim whose hub is formed with an axial passage and an array of receptacles extending inward from the opposite ends of the hub. A pair of identical metal plates are positioned at opposite ends of the hub, each plate having a set of tabs aligned with the receptacles at the associated end of the hub and an axial opening which is in register with the passage through the hub. The two plates are clamped together with the wheel hub between them so that they rotate in unison with the wheel hub. When mounted on an axle, the wheel can function as a non-driven velocipede wheel. Also, pedal crank sections can be inserted through the axial plate openings into the opposite ends of the hub passage and secured to the plates so that the wheel can be used as the front wheel of a tricycle. Still further, a sprocket can be mounted to one of the plates so that the wheel can function as the chain-driven rear wheel of a velocipede.

A canopy structure for a collapsible stroller includes a first bail whose bight is shorter than the distance between the arms of the stroller pusher handle, the free ends of the first bail being pivotally connected to the pusher handle arm at inboard walls thereof. The canopy structure also includes a second shallower bail whose bight is longer than the distance between the pusher handle arms and includes means for pivotally connecting the free ends of the second bail to the pusher handle arms at the outboard walls thereof at points spaced above the pivotal connections of the first bail. A flexible fabric body is connected between the bights of the bails which body is dimensioned so that, when the first bail is oriented in a substantially horizontal plane, the bight of the second bail engages the pusher handle so that the fabric body is stretched between the two bails. The first bail can be swung upwards to repose on the upper bail which drops down to a location below the pusher handle so that the first bail is located in an overcentered out-of-the-way position. Also, when the stroller is in its collapsed position, the second bail can be engaged over the stroller backrest to help retain the stroller in that collapsed position.

A pair of identical brackets, each have a slot to receive the front, or rear, of the blade of an ice skate, each is detachably affixed thereon by set screws, and each has an upstanding arm which supports a downwardly inclined axle for a large diameter, rubber tired wheel. The front wheel is canted outwardly on the inward side of the shoe and the rear wheel is canted outwardly on the outward side of the shoe with the flattened ground engaging portions of the rubber treads overlapping about a quarter of an inch along the longitudinal center line of the shoe. The brackets may be one piece and detachably affixed under the sole of a shoe.

A scissor frame lock includes a circular plate sandwiched between the corresponding legs of the scissor frame at their point of intersection. The legs and the plate are formed with aligned openings for slidably receiving a pivot pin. One end segment of the pivot pin is bent back on itself so that the end segment bypasses the adjacent leg and extends through a second opening in the plate. The pin is biased outwardly so that when the two legs are more or less perpendicular the pin segment projects into an opening in the other frame leg to lock the legs in that orientation. The legs are folded/together by depressing the pin so as to disengage its end segment from that opening.

A foldable cantilevered playseat has a base and a generally U-shaped seat-supporting member whose ends are pivotally connected to the base. Telescoping resiliently biased struts pivotally connected between the frame member legs and the bight of a bail swingably connected to the base resiliently bias the seat-supporting frame member above the base. A fabric seat supported by the frame member is arranged to support a child so that his feet can engage the floor below the base.
