A system for cone beam computed tomography of an extremity has an x-ray source and a digital radiographic detector both revolved about a central imaging axis so that the detector moves at least partially around a first extremity of a patient and, if the extremity is the leg of the patient, the detector moves between the legs of the patient. The detector path has a radial distance less than that of the source path. A housing that encloses the source and detector includes a pivoting door to allow sideways access for the patient's leg to be placed at the central imaging axis.

Extremity imaging apparatus for cone beam computed tomography

A hand held switch having a depressible button linked to an electromechanical two-stage switch transmits first and second type electric signals in response to a depth of the button press. A pivoting lever links the button to the switch and is designed to move the switch in response to a button press for improved tactile control.

An apparatus for cone beam computed tomography of an extremity has a digital radiation detector and a first device to move the detector along a circular detector path extending so that the detector moves both at least partially around a first extremity of the patient and between the first extremity and a second, adjacent extremity. The detector path has radius Rsufficient to position the extremity approximately centered in the detector path. There is a radiation source with a second device to move the source along a concentric circular source path having a radius Rgreater than radius R, radius Rsufficiently long to allow adequate radiation exposure of the first extremity for an image capture by the detector. A first circumferential gap in the source path allows the second extremity to be positioned in the first circumferential gap during image capture.

A radiographic imaging detector can include a housing, a radiographic imaging array enclosed by the housing, and a recess to releasably contain a battery in an outer surface of the housing. Certain exemplary embodiments of securing methods and/or battery latch apparatus for the closable recess of the DR detector can include a first catch mechanism configured to be released by force applied in a first direction, a second catch mechanism released by force applied in a second direction different from the first direction, where movement in the first direction can operate to disengage the first catch mechanism from the second catch mechanism, where movement in the second direction can operate to disengage the second catch mechanism for access to the recess, where the second catch mechanism is nearby the first catch mechanism, and where the first and second catch mechanism are actuated using one hand of an operator.

Portable radiographic detector exterior battery latch and methods for using the same

Embodiments of methods and apparatus are disclosed for obtaining a digital dual mode mobile x-ray cart from an analog or single mode (e.g., film/CR) mobile x-ray cart. In some exemplary embodiments, a retrofit apparatus does not change interior components or certification of the single mode mobile x-ray imaging system. Further, a single operator switch can be used to initiate x-ray exposure in both operating modes.

A digital radiographic detector has a detector panel that forms digital image data according to radiation exposure energy. An enclosure houses the detector panel, formed from an electrically conductive material and having a base with an inner base surface and an outer base surface and having, along its perimeter, one or more side walls that extend orthogonally from the inner base surface. A base magnetic shield extends as a layer of nanocrystalline material across at least one of the inner base surface and the outer base surface. A cover is formed from a non-conductive material and has a cover magnetic shield of a layer of a metallic alloy bonded to an inner surface. A side wall magnetic shield extends along one or more surfaces of the one or more side walls, wherein the side wall magnetic shield has at least one of the nanocrystalline material or the metallic alloy.

The mobile radiography apparatus includes: a frame; a transport mechanism coupled to the frame, the transport mechanism adapted to facilitate transport of the mobile apparatus between locations; an x-ray source mounted to the frame; a computed radiography (CR) scanner coupled to the frame and adapted to acquire one or more images from an image recording medium; a storage area disposed on the frame configured to removably retain at least one digital radiography (DR) detector; and a display coupled to the frame and connected to the CR scanner and the DR detector to display the one or more images acquired by the CR scanner or DR detector.
