A solenoidal magnet section has a high-temperature-superconductor tape wound in a solenoidal manner in a main winding chamber of a coil former. Two joints, each from the HTS tape to a follow-on superconductor, are integrated in the magnet section. The terminal sections of the HTS tape and the associated follow-on superconductor are each wound onto the coil former and connected to one another in a laminar manner. The regions of the first and second joint are axially offset from each other and the main winding chamber. The magnet section occupies a radial range with limits less than 20% larger than the outer radius of the main HTS winding package and less than 20% smaller than the inner radius of the coil former in the region of the main winding chamber. A plurality of magnet sections can be inserted one inside the other to form a magnet coil assembly.

A superconductive magnet coil assembly includes a layer-wound coil that is cylindrically symmetric, wherein the rectangular coil cross section of the coil has a first rectangular portion ('&#x2033;) within the coil cross section, and at least one second rectangular portion (&#x2032;&#x2033;) and third rectangular portion (&#x2032;&#x2033;) within the first portion which spans the first portion completely in the radial direction and in part in the axial direction, the second portion being completely wound with the first strip-like superconductor, and the third portion being completely wound with the second strip-like superconductor, and the strip-like superconductors being guided into a region outside the coil cross section and being electrically connected there, and wherein the second and the third rectangular portions are disjunct.

Superconductive magnet coil assembly comprising a plurality of layer-wound strip-like superconductors

A magnet coil configuration (-) is manufactured from a band-shaped conductor (), which is slit in the longitudinal direction except for its two end areas () such that the band-shaped conductor () has a first and a second half band () and two end areas () which connect these two half bands () to form a closed loop. The two half-bands () of the slit band-shaped conductor () are initially wound onto two separate intermediate coils () and the final coil structure is subsequently wound by alternate extraction of the two half-bands () from the intermediate coils (). A simple method is thereby proposed for winding a slit band-shaped conductor to form a magnet coil configuration which also generates strong magnetic fields.
