A room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone composition curable in the presence of moisture with rapid development of green strength. The RTV silicone composition comprises (A) 0 to about 85 weight percent polydiorganosiloxanes comprising on average at least 1.2 chain terminations per molecule selected from the group consisting of hydroxysilyl groups and alkoxysilyl groups; (B) about 10 to 95 weight percent polydiorganosiloxanes comprising on average at least 1.2 chain terminations per molecule selected from the group consisting of hydroxysilyl groups, alkoxysilyl groups, and multi-alkoxysilyl groups, provided that at least one chain termination per molecule comprises a multi-alkoxysilyl group; (C) an effective amount of a condensation catalyst; (D) 0 to about 40 weight percent of an alkoxysilane; and (E) 0 to about 60 weight percent of a filler; provided that the sum of the weight percents of Components (A) and (B) comprises about 20 to 95 weight percent based on the total weight of the RTV silicone composition.

The organofunctional group is described by formula --Z.sub.b --R.sup.4 (Z--SiR.sup.2.sub.n X.sub.3-n).sub.a, where each R.sup.2 is an independently selected monovalent hydrocarbon radical comprising 1 to about 18 carbon atoms; each Z is independently selected from the group consisting of divalent hydrocarbon radicals comprising about 2 to 18 carbon atoms and a combination of divalent hydrocarbon radicals and siloxane segments; R.sup.4 is independently selected from the group consisting of a silicon atom and a siloxane radical comprising at least two silicon atoms and each Z is bonded to a silicon atom of R.sup.4 with the remaining valences of the silicon atoms of R.sup.4 being bonded to a hydrogen atom, a monovalent hydrocarbon radical comprising 1 to about 18 carbon atoms, or forming siloxane bonds; each X is independently selected from the group consisting of halogen, alkoxy, acyloxy, and ketoximo; n is 0, 1, or 2; a is at least 2; and b is 0 or 1, provided, when b is 0, R.sup.4 is bonded to the polyorganosiloxane through a siloxane bond.

Alkoxy-functional room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) compositions, curable in the presence of moisture, comprising polymers containing on average at least 1.2 alkoxysilyl chain terminations per molecule, a tetraalkoxytitanium compound containing on average greater than 90 mole percent of the alkoxy groups as tertiary amyloxy groups, a filler, and an alkoxysilane. The addition of these components in amounts to satisfy defined molar ratios provide alkoxy-functional RTV compositions having both improved storage stability and improved green strength upon curing.

A method is described of producing alkoxysilalkylene enblocked polydiorganosiloxane in two steps. First, silanol terminated polydiorganosiloxane is capped with an SiH containing silazane in the presence of an acid catalyst. Then, that polymer is reacted with an alkoxy functional alkenylsilane in the presence of a hydrosilylation catalyst to give the desired polymer. The polymers are useful in formulating room temperature curing sealants.

A polyalkoxysilylalkylenedisilazane of the formula ##STR1## and a polyalkoxysilylalkylenesilylamine of the formula ##STR2## where x is 0 or 1; R is a saturated alkyl or aryl radical or mixture of radicals; R' is alkyl, aryl, or Cellosolve (R) alkylethanol radical, or mixture of radicals; R' is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, or aryalkyl radial or mixture of radicals; and A is a divalent hydrocarbon radical having 2 to 20 carbon atoms; and a method for their manufacture by the platinum catalyzed addition of an alkenyl- functional disilazane or silylamine with an alkoxy-functional silicon hydride is disclosed. The silylamine can also be produced by the platinum catalyzed addition of a SiH functional silazane or silylamine and an alkenyltrialkoxysilane. The polyalkoxysilylalkylenedisilanzane and the polyalkoxysilylalklylenesilylamine can be reacted with a silanol containing polyorganosiloxane such as a hydroxyl endblocked polydiorganosiloxane in the presence of an acidic catalyst to give a polyalkoxysilyl terminated polydiorganosiloxane in which the terminal groups are bonded to the polymer through an alkylene linkage.

Polyalkoxysilylalkylenedisilazanes and silylamines

A polyalkoxysilylalkylenedisilazane of the formula ##STR1## and a polyalkoxysilylalkylenesilylamine of the formula ##STR2## where x is 0 or 1; R is a saturated alkyl or aryl radical or mixture of radicals; R' is alkyl, aryl, or cellosolve (R) 2-alkylethanol radical, or mixture of radicals; R' is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, or arylalkyl radical or mixture of radicals; and A is a divalent hydrocarbon radical having 2 to 20 carbon atoms; and a method for their manufacture by the platinum catalyzed addition of an alkenyl- functional disilazane or silylamine with an alkoxy-functional silicon hydride is disclosed. The silylamine can also be produced by the platinum catalyzed addition of a SiH functional silazane of silylamine and an alkenyltrialkoxysilane. The polyalkoxysilylalkylenedisilazane and the polyalkoxysilylalkylenesilylamine can be reacted with a silanol containing polyorganosiloxane such as a hydroxyl endblocked polydiorganosiloxane in the presence of an acidic catalyst to give a polyalkoxysilyl terminated polydiorganosiloxane in which the terminal groups are bonded to the polymer through an alkylene linkage.

Suppression of convulsions in warm-blooded animals is accomplished by administration of phenylsilanes of the formulas 0R.sub.2 SiX, 0RSiX.sub.2, 0SiX.sub.3, 0.sub.2 RSiX, and 0.sub.3 SiX in which R is an alkyl or alkenyl group and X is a hydroxyl group or one of several readily hydrolyzable radicals, such as the methoxy group. It should be understood that where there is more than one R or one X group in a composition, they need not be the same species.
