A system and method are provided for performing forecasting with respect to total demand data (including two or more demand components) collected in a print production environment. Each demand component (comprising a set of demand component related points corresponding with a first time scale) may be processed in such a way that a demand component related point can be forecasted with demand component related points corresponded with the second time scale. Both the forecasted demand component related point and demand component related points corresponded with the second time scale can then be corresponded with the first time scale.

A print demand forecasting system is provided for use with a print production system in which print demand data is collected for each print job processed during a selected time interval. The print demand data is processed with a computer implemented service manager to obtain a first demand series with two or more demand components and a second demand series with one demand component. Each one of the two or more demand components is less than a selected variability level and the one demand component is greater than the selected variability level. The computer implemented service manager is adapted to (1) generate a first demand related forecast with a combination of the two or more demand components, and (2) generate a second demand related forecast with the one demand component if convergent forecasting results are obtainable for the second demand series.

Method for secure access to document repositories

A client subsystem is provided for use with a network printing system including a client communicating with one or more of a plurality of print-related devices by way of a network connection. An electronic document is developed at the client and placed into a printable format with a print driver. The electronic document in the printable format includes a set of attributes respectively corresponding with a set of attribute values, the set of attribute values controlling a manner in which the electronic document is to be processed at a selected one of the plurality of print-related devices. The client subsystem includes a document routing system, communicating with the print driver and a spooler, for facilitating transmission of the electronic document in the printable format from the print driver to the spooler. A print assistant, communicating with the document routing system, changes the set of attribute values, independently of the print driver, when at least a portion of the electronic document in the printable format has been routed to the spooler by the document routing system. The set of attribute values is finalized at the spooler when the user indicates that the job is ready to be printed, at which point the job submission is completed.
