This invention shows a method for operating a voice communications network that comprises dynamically associating a private number with at least one public number of a circuit-switched voice communication network, authenticating a user of a private number without reliance on a static reproducible data code, receiving an incoming call to the public number and routing the incoming call from a caller to the private number. The method also shows the generation of an outgoing call from the private number and passing the outgoing call through the public number while generating calling party information to a target which preserves the privacy of the caller, and altering an associating of the private number and at least one public number. The system therefore acts as a proxy with authentication by means of dynamic code security. The caller and the user of the private number share seamless round-trip telephone communications while preserving the anonymity of the user of the private number. The system functionality is advantageously presented as a restricted option space defined by a 'skin', which provides a consistent and purposeful set of functionality useful for a predetermined population of users.

A system and method for communicating information between a first party and a second party, comprising the steps of receiving, by an intermediary, an identifier of desired information and accounting information for a transaction involving the information from the first party, transmitting an identifier of the first party to the second party, and negotiating, by the intermediary, a comprehension function for obscuring at least a portion of the information communicated between the first party and the second party. The data transmission may be made secure with respect to the intermediary by providing an asymmetric key or direct key exchange for encryption of the communication between the first and second party. The data transmission may be made secure with respect to the second party by maintaining the information in encrypted format at the second party, with the decryption key held only by the intermediary, and transmitting a secure composite of the decryption key and a new encryption key to the second party for transcoding of the data record, and providing the new decryption key to the first party, so that the information transmitted to the first party can be comprehended by it.

A system and method for communicating information between a first party and a second party, comprising identifying desired information, negotiating, through an intermediary, a comprehension function for obscuring at least a portion of the information communicated between the first party and the second party, communicating the encrypted information to the second party, and decrypting the encrypted information using the negotiated comprehension function. Preferably, the intermediary does not itself possess sufficient information to decrypt the encrypted information, thus allowing use of an 'untrusted' intermediary. The comprehension function may be dynamic with respect to its response to the negotiated comprehension function, and thus permit limitations on the use of the information by the second party. For example, the decryption of the encrypted information may be time limited.

A system and method for authenticating documents and content thereof. A counterfeit resistant document recording medium is provided, having thereon a predefined unique document identifier and at least one security feature. The recording medium is thereafter imprinted with document content, which typically varies between documents. The document content is stored in a database, indexed by an associated document identifier. The document may then be authenticated by checking the security feature and comparing the stored document content with a perceived document content. The system provides a number of opportunities for commercial exploitation, including sales of identified recording media, recording of information in a database, on-line authentication transactions, differential accounting for document validations and counterfeit identifications, imprinting devices, AND authentication devices. The system prevents counterfeiting of valuable documents through casual unit by providing both physical and logical security.

A system and method for authenticating documents and content thereof. A method and system for modifying computer program logic with respect to a predetermined aspect, comprising (a) before run time: analyzing compiled computer program logic of a module for processes involving the predetermined aspect before run time, substantially without decompilation or reference to computer program source code; and storing a set of modifications relating to computer program logic modifications of the module relating to the predetermined aspect; and (b) at run time: based on the stored set of modifications, selectively transferring program control from the module to a separate logical structure, executing modified logical operations with respect to the predetermined aspect, and subsequently returning program control to the module. The predetermined aspect may be, for example, a data type, algorithm type, or interface specification. In a preferred embodiment, the predetermined aspect is date related data, and more particularly, to logical operations relating to date related data which are flawed. The system preferably operates in a mainframe environment, wherein the compiled computer program constitutes one or more load modules, executing under an operating system, wherein the computer program logic modifications preferably comprise program flow control diversions in an original object module, which selectively transfer logical control to a separate object module to effect modifications to the computer program logic, followed by a return of control to the original object module.

Object code logic analysis and automated modification system and method

A system including a storage medium containing encrypted information comprises: (a) a control unit for selecting information to be retrieved from the storage medium; (b) a storage medium reader for reading the selected information from the storage medium; and (c) a decryption device for decrypting at least portions of the selected information using a decryption key. The decryption key is defined, at least in part, by rules and/or data which are read from the storage medium by the storage medium reader.
