A visual front alert system attached to a vehicle windshield for instructing observers as to movement of the vehicle. A strip shaped body incorporates a plurality of illuminating elements communicating with a PCBA. An accelerometer connected to the PCBA, with a power supply operating the accelerometer and PCBA. In response to a determined acceleration of the structure, the accelerometer inputting a signal to the PCBA representative of the vehicle movement and the PCBA in turn providing an output signal causing illuminating elements to generate a visual output corresponding to said input signal. The visual output further includes a first output representative of a steady or accelerating motion of the vehicle and a second output further representative of a decelerating or braking condition of the vehicle.

A process for incorporating a long persistent phosphor into a fabric material which occurs by firing a phosphor within a crucible, then grinding the resulting aggregate into a phosphor particulate of specified size, encapsulating the phosphor particulate within a water impervious coating material and then applying a specified ratio by weight of the encapsulated phosphor particulates into the fabric material. Further, a fibrous product is described incorporating encapsulated long persistent phosphor particles.

Low profile light

An article carrier apparatus for a vehicle includes a cross rail interconnected to an exterior surface of the vehicle, a heat sink positioned within the cross rail, and a light source positioned within the cross rail. The light source is thermally connected to the heat sink such that the heat sink will absorb at least a portion of the heat generated by operation of the light source. The cross rail will structurally support an article attached to the exterior of a vehicle.

Low profile light for article carrier system

A transparent tubular member containing a phosphorescent material providing a degree of persistent illumination. The tubular member includes a first end and a second end, an outer diameter and an inner diameter establishing between the outer diameter a selected thickness. A volume of the phosphorescent material is encapsulated within the elongate tubular member and is responsive to an irradiating light source to charge the phosphorescent material to a desired degree of luminescence and so that the tubular member emits the luminescence of the phosphorescent material over a period of time.

Apparatus and method for producing a transparent tubular member containing a phosphorescent material

A multiple speed power transmission for coupling to an engine includes a gear box or housing having an input and an output shaft, each rotatably mounted in the housing and extending therefrom. A clutch is coupled to releasably engage the input shaft to thereby couple the input shaft to an engine or the like. A plurality of first gears freely rotate on the input shaft while a plurality of second gears are mounted to the output shaft to rotate with the output shaft. Each of the second gears are intermeshed to constantly couple to one of the first gears. The input shaft has a bore extending thereinto from one end thereof and has a plurality of side openings into the center bore. A plurality of first gear engaging members are located between the input shaft in each of the first gear members for selectively engaging each first gear to the input shaft such that only one first gear is engaged to the input shaft at a time. An elongated gear changing bar is movably mounted in the input shaft bore and has engaging portions thereon which can be aligned through the input shaft openings for engaging one of the plurality of first gear engaging members to the input shaft when the elongated gear changing bar is positioned in a predetermined position to thereby couple the input shaft through one first gear to one second gear to thereby couple the input and output shafts. Coupling can be accomplished through spherical wedging members, such as ball bearings, placed in the input shaft side openings, and in which each opening is an angled or arced opening to allow wedging of the wedging members between the input shaft and the first gear. The elongated gear changing bar can be either slid axially within the input shaft bore or rotated within the input shaft bore to align raised or camming surfaces with the input shaft openings to selectively lift the spherical wedging members.

Power transmission

A removable lock for installation in a water well having a plastic casing includes a cylindrical body that fits loosely within the plastic casing. The body includes pivotable blades having points that are directed downwardly and outwardly. After the lock has been lowered a substantial distance below the ground into the casing, the blades are forcibly pivoted so that the points of the blades penetrate into the plastic coating. After the lock is thus set, the application of a downward force to the body of the lock will cause the point of the blades to dig deeper into the plastic casing so that the blades cut a slit in the plastic casing if an attempt is made to drive the body downward within the casing. A coupling is included at the top end of the body, and the coupling is engaged to the lower end of a pipe string for moving the lock into the casing and for removing it. To prevent unauthorized removal of the plug, the coupling at the top end of the body is provided with threads of an uncommon type.

Water well lock

A three-wheel vehicle apparatus has one front wheel and two rear wheels to improve safety of operation, including a novel tilt-and-bank mechanism, front wheel suspension, safety frame, aerodynamic body design, and sliding doors. The tilt-and-band mechanism employs a tilt bar connected to hydraulic cylinders and spring/shock units mounted on the wheels which automatically tilt and bank the vehicle in turns. The front wheel suspension mounts the front wheel on a trailing arm and uses a reaction arm connected to a pivot pin in front of the wheel for better handling of centrifugal forces in turning. The safety frame employs three crosswise roll bars connected together by three longitudinal bars and connectors, all in turn connected to a complete wraparound bumper. This vehicle is made aerodynamically more efficient by a pointed nose and a new upswept tail that eliminates rear drag at high speeds. Additionally, doors which can be opened and remain open at high speeds are roller mounted on the outside of the passenger compartments. The improved vehicle is designed to make the use of three-wheel vehicles on today's highways safe and reliable.

Three-wheel vehicle

A cartridge-type aroma percolator for wafting fragrance into the atmosphere at a relatively high rate. The percolator includes a cylindrical container having a vented cap and a base provided with a raised hub housing an electric heater. Telescopically inserted into the container is a replaceable cartridge having a can whose base has a reentrant socket that complements and receives the hub. Placed adjacent the upper end of the can is a liquid-permeable toroidal insert incorporating a pad of porous material, the insert defining therebelow a chamber having a pool therein of an aqueous solution of a volatile liquid fragrance. A tube coaxial with the can extends through the hollow core of the barrier, the tube inlet being immersed in the pool adjacent the socket, the tube outlet being above the barrier. When the heater is energized, the solution in the region of the socket is caused to boil to produce a head of pressurized gas above the pool, forcing the liquid to rise in the tube and to be discharged from the outlet to shower onto the insert whereby the liquid percolates through the pad before returning to the chamber. An aromatic vapor emitted from the pad is wafted into the atmosphere through the vented cap of the percolator. A removable cover means is provided for hermetically sealing said can, and for storing the contents thereof, while the cartridge is not in use.

A corrosion inhibiting device including an extremely stable, man-made synthetic carrier having chemical and physical stabilities compatible with hostile and adverse environments for dispensing corrosion inhibiting chemicals, in virtually any ratio desired and/or required by the material to be protected from the corrosive environments, wherein the carrier has a multiplicity of sites, which are uniquely adaptable for solvent conveyance, carrier reception and carrier retention via solids entrapments, of amorphous and/or crystalline materials in multi-nucleated centers, and wherein the corrosion inhibitors located therein contain corrosion inhibitors which are classified and selected according to their vapor pressures.
