A contact sensor assembly includes a sensor comprising a plurality of sensing areas, a plurality of non-sensing areas, and a connector coupled to the plurality of sensing areas. The contact sensor assembly also include an outer cover positioned over the sensor. The outer cover has an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface includes a plurality of raised portions and at least one corner section. The at least one corner section of the inner surface of the outer cover is reinforced so that the corner section has a greater stiffness and the corner section corresponds to at least one non-sensing area of the sensor.

System and apparatus for sensing contact on a robotic mechanism in a catheter procedure system

A system for controlling the position of an articulated robotic arm includes a robotic catheter procedure system having the articulated robotic arm and a controller coupled to the articulated robotic arm. The system further includes a patient table positioned proximate to and separate from the articulated robotic arm and a tracking system coupled to the controller and configured to measure a change in a position of the patient table. The controller is configured to adjust the position of the articulated robotic arm based on the measured change in position of the patient table.

System and method for controlling a position of an articulated robotic arm

Disclosed is the automated rapid advancement of a guide wire through a guide catheter using x-ray markers. The procedure involves providing a guide wire with a marker at or adjacent its tip, providing a guide catheter with a marker at or adjacent its distal terminus, rapidly advancing the guide wire through the guide catheter from its proximal end to its distal end under the control of an automated apparatus, and terminating the automated rapid advancement when the guide wire tip marker becomes adjacent to the guide catheter distal end marker. Fluoroscopic images may be taken of the of the guide wire as it rapidly advances through the guide catheter and image processing software used to determine when to terminate the rapid advancement. This software may use either the position or the velocity of the guide wire to make this determination.

A system for controlling the position of an articulated robotic arm in a robotic catheter procedure system, includes an articulated robotic arm, a first controller coupled to the articulated robotic arm and a patient table. The patient table includes a user interface and a second controller coupled to the user interface and the first controller. The second controller is programmed to generate a control signal in response to a user input received using the patient table user interface, the user input indicating a change in position of the patient table. The second controller is also programmed to transmit the control signal to the patient table and to transmit the control signal to the first controller.

A robotic catheter system including a housing and a drive mechanism configured to engage and to impart motion to a catheter device is provided. The drive mechanism is supported by the housing. The robotic catheter system includes a guide catheter support coupled to the housing. The guide catheter support is located in front of the drive mechanism, and the guide catheter support has a longitudinal axis. The guide catheter support includes a first surface configured to engage a guide catheter and a rotation joint allowing the first surface to be rotated about the longitudinal axis such that the surface is able to engage the guide catheter at a plurality of angular positions relative to a patient.

An oscillatory positive expiratory pressure respiratory therapy device which may be incorporated into the expiratory limb of a ventilator circuit. Accordingly, this device allows a patient on a ventilator to be subjected to positive expiratory pressure (PEP) therapy combined with airway oscillation and intermittent air flow acceleration while allowing the oscillatory PEP respiratory therapy treatment to be bypassed without interrupting the integrity of the ventilating circuit once the device has been installed in the ventilator circuit. In this manner, all expiratory air in the ventilator circuit is accounted for, the expiratory air volume may be accurately monitored and the ventilator circuit does not have to be broken for insertion or removal of the device.

An enhanced PEP therapy device which provides a variable frequency and variable magnitude positive expiratory pressure by utilizing a nonlinear orifice for adjusting and maintaining a desired positive expiratory pressure oscillation in accordance with a predetermined pressure range of a patient's expiratory air.
