A system includes a substrate and an electrical component mounted to the substrate. The system also includes a structural enclosure positioned around lateral edges of the electrical component and mounted to the substrate. The structural enclosure includes raised walls extending away from the substrate and surrounding the electrical component. The raised walls are configured to block foreign object debris from the electrical component. The system further includes a lid connected to the substrate, where the lid covers the electrical component and the structural enclosure. The system also includes a seal positioned between the structural enclosure and the lid, where the seal is configured to be compressed when the lid is connected to the substrate. In addition, the system includes a thermal interface material positioned between and contacting the electrical component and the lid.

Multi-stage partial admission axial turbine

A heat exchanger includes a plurality of longitudinally-extending first channels and a plurality of second channels fluidly isolated from the plurality of first channels. Each first channels includes a plurality of spiraling internal fins and a plurality of external fins. The internal fins extend from and are integrally formed with the internal walls of the first channel. The external fins connect extend from and are integrally formed with the external walls of the first channels, connecting channels together. The plurality of second channels is defined in part by external walls of the plurality of first channels and the plurality of external fins.

Heat exchanger with heat transfer augmentation features

A heat exchanger having: front and aft ends; heat exchanger cores in an annular loop that define circumferential gaps between adjacent pairs of the cores, the cores, individually or as axially aligned sets, extend from the front to aft ends and have facing inlet sides and circumferentially facing outlet sides configured such that the inlet sides and the outlet sides from the adjacent pairs of the cores face into the same circumferential gaps; and core guide vanes disposed in the circumferential gaps, the core guide vanes have an aft portion that extends from the front end to the aft end of the heat exchanger, wherein: at the front end the heat exchanger, the core guide vanes are closer to the outlet side of the cores; and at the aft end the heat exchanger, the core guide vanes are closer to the inlet sides of the cores.

In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a transition structure for a heat exchanger can include a body defining a dome cavity. The dome cavity can be configured to transition flow between at least one first channel and a plurality of second channels having a different number than the at least one first channel.

A header for a high-pressure heat exchanger includes a first high-pressure transition section with inlets for multiple first high-pressure flow channels that are spaced from one another in a radial direction and collectively arranged in a substantially circular shape. The inlets for the multiple first high-pressure flow channels on a radially outer edge of the first high-pressure transition section are spaced further apart in a circumferential direction from adjacent inlets of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels than radially inward inlets are spaced from adjacent radially inward inlets of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels. The header also includes multiple first high-pressure flow channels extending from the first high-pressure transition section to a second-high pressure transition section that is configured to divide each of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels into at least two first high-pressure sub-flow channels.

Header for high-pressure heat exchanger

A turbine rotor includes a base and a plurality of blades. A central nose is radially inward of the blades and defines an axis of rotation. A plurality of cooling manifolds is disposed within the turbine rotor and includes impingement cooling jets extending through a rear surface of the turbine rotor. An internal cooling manifold extends radially inward of the impingement cooling jets and extends between the base and the rear surface of the turbine rotor. A central nose cooling manifold extends into the central nose and is fluidically connected to the internal cooling manifold. A base cooling manifold is fluidically connected to the central nose manifold and extends radially outward from the central nose cooling manifold. A blade cooling manifold is fluidically connected to the base cooling manifold and extends within the blade. Trailing edge jets extend from the blade cooling manifold and through the trailing edge of blades.

A cold plate apparatus is disclosed. A cold plate includes a first set of sinusoidal conduits and a second set of sinusoidal conduits formed therein. The first set of sinusoidal conduits is arranged in a first direction, and the second set of sinusoidal conduits is arranged in a second direction. Crests of the first set of sinusoidal conduits overlap troughs of the second set of sinusoidal conduits. Crests of the second set of sinusoidal conduits overlap troughs of the first set of sinusoidal conduits. A first set of header plates is fluidically coupled to the first set of sinusoidal conduits, and a second set of header plates is fluidically coupled to the second set of sinusoidal conduits.

A power converter assembly includes a plurality of sets of semi-conductor modules, a common heat sink mechanically connected to each semi-conductor module, a first busbar assembly on a first side of the common heat sink, and a second busbar assembly on a second side of the common heat sink opposite from the first side. The first and second busbar assemblies are electrically connected to one another.

A turbine rotor includes a base and a plurality of blades. The base and the blades curve such that radially outward portions of the base and the blades extend in a direction with a greater component in a radial direction than in an axial direction. Radially central portions of the base and the blade extend in a direction with the two components being closer. Radially inner sections of the base and the blades extend in a direction with a greater component in the axial direction than in a radial direction. There is a cooling channel arrangement in the turbine rotor. The cooling channel arrangement includes impingement cooling for a nose and serpentine passages for cooling sections of the platform circumferentially intermediate the blades, and distinct serpentine passages for cooling the plurality of blades. A turbomachine and method are also disclosed.

Radial turbine rotor with complex cooling channels and method of making same

A header for a high-pressure heat exchanger includes a first high-pressure transition section with inlets for multiple first high-pressure flow channels that are spaced from one another in a radial direction and collectively arranged in a substantially circular shape. The inlets for the multiple first high-pressure flow channels on a radially outer edge of the first high-pressure transition section are spaced further apart in a circumferential direction from adjacent inlets of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels than radially inward inlets are spaced from adjacent radially inward inlets of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels. The header also includes multiple first high-pressure flow channels extending from the first high-pressure transition section to a second-high pressure transition section that is configured to divide each of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels into at least two first high-pressure sub-flow channels. Each flow channel of the multiple first high-pressure flow channels and each sub-flow channel of the first high-pressure sub-flow channels have a round cross-sectional shape.

A heat exchanger including a plurality of tubes, a header, and a plurality of flow voids. The plurality of tubes extends in a first direction through which a first fluid is configured to flow. Each of the plurality of tubes have waves that repeat at regular intervals along the first flow direction and are spaced from one another vertically and laterally in the second direction. The header extends in the first direction and is attached to each of the plurality of tubes. The header is configured to convey the first fluid to each of the plurality of tubes. The plurality of flow voids are formed between the plurality of tubes. The plurality of flow voids extend in a second direction through which a second fluid is configured to flow such that the second fluid is in thermal contact with the plurality of tubes.

Cross-flow heat exchanger

An outlet manifold is provided and includes an outlet portion having first and second sides and an inlet portion to which the outlet portion is fluidly coupled. The inlet portion has first and second sides corresponding to the first and second sides of the outlet portion. Each of the first and second sides of the inlet portion includes one or more tubular members connectable with corresponding tube joints and a mixing chamber fluidly interposed between each of the one or more tubular members and the outlet portion.
