The latch assembly includes a housing, a crank member disposed within the housing for limited rotational movement therein, a pawl, a crank pin, and an attachment pin. The latch assembly may further comprise an actuating member or system, such as a rod. The pawl is selectively movable between latched and unlatched positions in response to rotational movement of the crank member. The crank member is in operable engagement with the actuating member or system, whereby upon rotation of the actuating member, the crank member or pawl is pivoted and slid between latched and unlatched positions.

Latch assembly

A rack and pinion pull-up latch comprises a housing containing a reciprocating push-button which alternates between two positions. Means are provided to secure the push-button in these two positions. Supported by the push-button is a stepped pinion which engages two stationary racks within the housing and which drives a third rack between two positions of translation. At one of these positions, the third rack is rotated so as to move an attached latching finger inwardly of the housing. At the other position, the latching finger is in latching engagement with a frame member.

An adjustable lift-off hinge comprises a support member having a longitudinal axis mounted onto a frame. A knuckle assembly mounted onto a door is provided having a longuitudinal adjustable knuckle member rotatably coupled to the support member along the longitudinal axis, and a longitudinal fixed base member having a convex outer surface pivotally connected to a longitudinal side of the adjustable knuckle member.

A positive position indicator that is used on a variety of non-rotatable, cabinet slam-action pawl latches is disclosed. The indicator uses stored spring forces, stored in a thin, twin-leafed flat spring having a plurality of spring bends therein, to react against a latch keeper attached to the cabinet frame. The stored spring forces cause a spring tab to dislodge the latch pawl from an adjacent flat surface and move the latch housing and cabinet door away from the frame.

A remote latching mechanism is provided having a connecting member, preferably a cylindrical rod, means for rotating the connecting member about its longitudinal axis, and a latch assembly connected to the connecting member for movement between latched and unlatched conditions in response to the rotation of the connecting member. The means for rotating the rod may be a handle assembly, having a handle journalled within a handle cup, and/or a socket member affixed to the end of the rod for rotation of the rod upon application of torque of the socket member. The latch assembly comprises a crank, at least one link member having over-center action, a pawl support and a pawl, all inter-connected so that upon rotation of the crank, the pawl is pivoted and slid relative to a latch housing between latched and unlatched positions.

A tubular key and mating latch-actuator are provided in which the key has inner circumferential recesses and the latch-actuator has a stud having projections therefrom, the recesses and stud projections being arranged according to a binary-code so that each key of a series is unique.

A flexible draw latch for use in securing two closure members together comprises a keeper adapted to be affixed to one of the closure members, a mounting bracket adapted to be affixed to the other closure members, a mounting bracket adapted to be affixed to the other closure member, a lever pivotally connected to the mounting bracket, and a locking member made of a flexible, resilient material pivotally connected to the lever wherein the locking member is detachable connected to the keeper and wherein the locking member is disposed in overlying relation to the keeper, the mounting bracket and the lever when the latch is in a closed, latched position and wherein the pivot connection between the lever and the locking member is closer to the closure member than the pivot connection between the lever and the mounting bracket when the latch is in a closed, latched position. A cross-pin is transversely disposed within the keeper-engageable portion of the locking member to prevent localized deformation and to relieve stress on the locking member. Longitudinal ribs are provided to lower the neutral axis of the locking member and help prevent the locking member from bending when elongated.
