A generator air gap baffle train assembly includes linearly aligned baffle segments, linearly aligned wedge blocks, and a tensioning rod. Each baffle segment includes a radially outer portion having an outer surface to interface with the axial slot and a side surface angled with respect to the outer surface and an axially aligned first thru bore and a radially inner portion which projects into an air gap. A pair of wedge blocks are positioned on opposing sides of the radially outer portion, each wedge block including a side surface that interfaces with the side surface of the radially outer portion so that the interfacing surfaces are in abutting contact and an outer surface that interfaces with the axial slot and a second thru bore axially aligned with the first thru bore of each baffle segment. The tensioning rod is enclosed by a non-conducting hollow tube spanning between adjacent baffle segments.

A locking wedge system for securing a stator coil in a slot of a stator core includes a slot layer positioned on the stator coil to inhibit movement of the stator coil within the slot, an outer wedge including a first tapered surface, an inner locking wedge positioned on the slot layer, the inner locking wedge including a second tapered face that interfaces with the first tapered face, a locking member configured to lock the inner locking wedge to the stator core, and an interlocking mechanism to couple the outer wedge to the inner locking wedge.

A connector assembly () for electrically and mechanically connecting via bolting, the top and bottom stator coil sections () of an electrical generator comprising at least one pair of stator coil sections () having spaced apart upper coil headers () and lower coil headers (), each comprising a conductive material to provide at least two parallel paths for passing respective flows of electric current; first and second connectors () including respective couplers () for connecting the headers (), wherein the first and second connectors () are electrically and mechanically isolated from one another via an air gap () therebetween so that none of the couplers () bridge the air gap () and thereby allow relative movement between the first and second connectors ().

An assembly and a method for supporting generator stator end winding coils are presented. The assembly includes an outer support circumferentially disposed on outer side of bottom end winding coils and inner braces disposed on inner side of top end winding coils and circumferentially spaced apart from each other. At least one inner brace is disposed along an axial direction of the top end winding coils. Studs are radially oriented and threaded into the inner braces from the outer support. The studs are tensioned and retightenable to a required clamping force for supporting the end winding coils. Filler layers are disposed between the top end wind coils and bottom end wind coils for supporting the clamping force.

Assembly and method for supporting generator stator end winding coils

A radial lead seal assembly of a generator and a method for sealing a radial chamber from an axial chamber of a generator using a radial lead seal assembly are presented. The radial lead seal assembly includes sealing elements disposed around a radial lead to seal an annular space between the radial lead and the radial chamber and thereby seal the axial chamber fluidically from the radial chamber. Conical springs are disposed annularly around the radial lead between the sealing elements and a junction between the radial lead and the axial lead. The radial lead seal assembly includes a nut for exerting a compressive load on the radial lead seal assembly in a radially inward direction such that the conical springs are only partially compressed.

Radial lead seal assembly for a generator and method incorporating the same

A retrofit method for modifying a radial lead seal assembly of a generator and a radial lead seal assembly of a generator are presented. The radial lead seal assembly seals a radial chamber from an axial chamber. The radial lead seal assembly includes sealing elements disposed around a radial lead to seal an annular space between the radial lead and the radial chamber, a coil spring disposed around the radial lead between the sealing elements and a junction between the radial lead and the axial lead, and a nut. The retrofit method includes removing one or more of the sealing elements to define a radial space between the remainder of the sealing elements and the coil spring. Conical springs are inserted in the radial space and only partially compressed under a radially inward compressive load exerted on the radial lead seal assembly via the nut.
