A male form is configured as an attachment element for an injector for implanting an intraocular lens in an eye. The male form includes an elongate carrier part and a front part that is arranged at one end of the elongate carrier part. The front part has a front side and is made of an elastically deformable material, the deformable material being compressible at least in the direction of a longitudinal axis (A) of the male form. The front side includes a first peripheral side, an opposite second peripheral side, and at least one elongate indentation, which is formed in the front part and which is open at the front side. The indentation extends between the two peripheral sides and opens out at the peripheral sides. An injector for implanting an intraocular lens having the male form is also disclosed.

An ophthalmosurgical injector system includes an injector, which has a handpiece, a plunger, and a dispensing device; an intraocular lens, which has an optic body and two C-shaped haptic arms protruding therefrom; and a cartridge, in which the intraocular lens is received. The dispensing device has an inlet opening at the proximal end and an outlet opening at the distal end. When the plunger is moved forward, the intraocular lens is conveyed from the cartridge through the inlet opening to the outlet opening of the dispensing device. When the intraocular lens is held in the cartridge in a compressed and preloaded state, a subregion of each of the haptic arms bears on and covers the optic body. In a plan view, the optic body of the preloaded intraocular lens has a circular surface area with a diameter of at least 4.0 mm that is not covered by the haptic arms.

Ophthalmosurgical injector system

An ophthalmosurgical injector system includes an injector, which has a handpiece, a plunger and a dispensing device; an intraocular lens, which has an optic body, a C-shaped first haptic arm protruding from the optic body and a C-shaped second haptic arm protruding from the optic body; a cartridge, in which the intraocular lens is received, wherein the cartridge is inserted in the injector; and an actuation element, which has a contact surface, and a locking element, with which a position of the plunger relative to the handpiece or to the cartridge can be locked. The plunger can be locked in a first position, in which the intraocular lens is held in the cartridge in a compressed and pretensioned state in which an outer distance from the first haptic arm to the second haptic arm is greater than 8 mm and less than 11 mm.

A method of maintaining a hydrophilic intraocular lens in a foldable state without immersing the intraocular lens in liquid water includes the step of storing the foldable intraocular lens within a substantially airtight package containing a water reservoir not in direct contact with the lens.

Hydrophilic IOL packaging system

A hydrophilic intraocular lens storage system includes: a) a substantially air tight container containing a small quantity of free water; and b) a foldable hydrophilic intraocular lens disposed within the container at a location wherein the lens is not immersed in liquid. The storage system can be employed to maintain the hydrophilic intraocular lens in a foldable state without being immersed in liquid. The method includes the step of storing the foldable intraocular lens within a substantially air tight package containing free water, the lens being stored within the package at a location wherein the lens is not immersed in liquid.
