A method of providing data communication between a first device and a second device includes, establishing a first communication link with a downstream device connected to the second device using a first mode via a USB-type interface, wherein in the first mode the USB-type interface utilizes a first set of USB communication lanes; establishing a second communication link with the first device via the USB-C port using an Alternate mode wherein the Alt-mode utilizes the first set of USB communication lanes; and, in accordance with establishing the second communication link, changing a mode of the first communication link so that the first communication link does not communicate via the first set of USB communication lanes.

Systems and methods of controlling communication modes in an electronic device

A transmission configuration and/or configuration errors and recovery may be determined or implemented by temporal interpretation of one or more signals. A transmitter may interpret one or more signals a first way during one or more time windows and a second way during one or more other time windows. Video resolution may be indicated in a V-by-One&#xae; interface by temporal interpretation of HPD and/or CDR lock. Transmission format may be indicated before or after transmission begins. Transmitter configuration error detection and recovery may be implemented by temporal interpretation. A transmitter may transmit data in an assumed/default format. A receiver may indicate the assumed transmission format is incompatible with the receiver configuration. A receiver may indicate a compatible transmission format, for example, based on timing or pulsing transitions in a temporally repurposed signal. A transmitter may respond to the repurposed signal indication by transmitting a different (e.g., compatible) format.

Examples are disclosed that relate to oscillator circuits. One example provides a circuit comprising an amplifier, a resonator in parallel with the amplifier, and a shunt path including one or more circuit elements, the shunt path coupled to a first node downstream of an output of the amplifier and to a second node, the shunt path configured to shunt current received at the first node away from an input of the resonator and toward the second node, the second node having, at steady state, a relatively lower voltage than an input voltage of the resonator.

Methods, physical computer-readable media, and devices are provided that allow re-enumeration to be initiated on a USB 3.0-compatible device. The method includes establishing a connection with a host, transmitting an indicator from the device to the host to cause a Link Training and Status State Machine (LTSSM) of the host to move from active state (U) to one of SS.Inactive and RX.Detect, synchronizing the device with the host, and presenting a new configuration of the device to the host.

Methods and physical computer-readable storage media for initiating re-enumeration of USB 3.0 compatible devices

A host device can download a firmware update to a peripheral device having previously enumerated with the host device. The host device can perform link training with the peripheral device in response to a re-enumeration indication received from the peripheral device. The link training can include switching a Link Training and Status State Machine (LTSSM) in the host device from an active state (U0) to an RX.Detect state and synchronizing with the peripheral device in the RX.Detect state. The host device can re-enumerate with the peripheral device utilizing the firmware update after the host device completes link training with the peripheral device.

Re-enumeration of USB 3.0 compatible devices

Described herein is a system comprising a peripheral device that is connected to a host device over a bus compatible with USB 3.0. The host device comprises a reduced functionality USB host controller configured to perform a set of one or more preprogrammed functions from the USB 3.0 specification, and a universal asynchronous receiver and transmitter (UART) configured to sample USB response data received from the peripheral device over the bus.

A circuit comprising a first counter, a second counter, a third counter and a decoder, where the decoder may be configured to present a locked output signal. The first counter may present a first output signal in response to a start of frame signal and one or more control signals. The second counter may be configured to present a second output signal in response to the start of frame signal and the first output signal. The third counter may present a tracking control signal to the first counter in response to one or more of the control signals.
