A multipurpose device for preventing or treating deep vein thrombosis, extremity edema, and breathing conditions is provided herein. The multipurpose device includes a respiratory device, such as a flutter valve or a spirometer, having a mouthpiece or nasal breathing piece, a pump connected to the respiratory device by first tubing, a release valve connected to the pump by second tubing, and one or more third tubing(s) connected to the release valve.

Multipurpose device

The present disclosure provides surgical clamps. The clamp has a body with a mouth that opens and closes to permit the body to encircle a bundle of tissue containing a blood vessel which a surgeon wishes to occlude. The clamp also has an articulating arm that rotates on a hinge and passes through apertures of the clamp body. The apertures and/or the articulating arm include ratchet components that permit the surgeon to apply dynamic adjustable tensioning to the tissue and vessel in real time. This dynamic tension permits a surgeon to ensure a specific reduction of blood flow through the vessel.

Tensionable surgical clamp

The invention provides zinc chelating agents and formulations thereof that deplete XIAP in cancer cells and sensitize the cells to apoptosis-inducing agents. The invention provides methods for sensitizing apoptosis-resistant cancer cells to apoptosis-inducing agents, as well as methods for treating a subject with a combined therapy of a zinc chelating agent and an apoptosis-inducing agent.
