Systems and methods for avoiding non-linear behavior of conventional early-minus-late correlator-based code loop discriminators. The present invention provides a model of correlator behavior that takes into account whether both correlators are on the same side of the correlation peak or they straddle the peak. The result is a piecewise solution that can be stitched together quite readily to produce an extended range of linear response, thereby improving the pull-in capability of GPS code loops when closely spaced correlators are being used.

Systems and methods for improving pull-in performance in GPS signal processing

Embodiments of the present invention pertain generally to methods and systems of processing a global positioning satellite (GPS) signal. More particularly, embodiments of the present invention provide an improved discriminator function that utilizes the early, prompt, and late correlator values. For example, the improved discriminator function may be normalized based on all three of the early, prompt, and late correlator values. The improved discriminator function behaves linearly across a prescribed region whose width depends on the separation between correlators.

Systems and methods for a cumulant-based discriminator for global navigation satellite system code alignment are provided. In one embodiment, a method for determining a misalignment between a GNSS coarse acquisition code signal and a replica code is provided. The method comprises producing code samples of a spread spectrum signal received from a satellite; multiplying the code samples by a current value of a replica code; and calculating a set of multiple-order cumulants based on the code samples multiplied by the current value of the replica code.

An interband prediction method for image data decomposition and reconstruction in which a coder decomposes image data using pyramid subband image data decomposition. The resulting DC subband is further decomposed and is used to generate first predictors for various allowed geometries. The method then generates a predictor set for each pixel in the decomposed image in which the predictors for each pixel are ranked. The method further generates a message identifying the predictor in each predictor set to be used in the reconstruction of the data. In the reconstruction of the image data, the DC subband image data is used to generate a second predictor set identical to the first predictor list. The desired predictor for each pixel identified by the messages is used in conjunction with the DC subband image data to generate estimated next-level DC subband image data. This process is repeated until the estimated next-level DC subband image data is a predicted estimate of the original image data.
