User equipment receives a GNSS signal that includes a GNSS signal from a satellite. The user equipment also receives a first data input from a motion sensor of the user equipment that is indicative of a motion of the user equipment, receives a second data input from the temperature sensor of the user equipment that is indicative of a temperature of the user equipment, and performs a coherent operation based on the pilot channel of the GNSS signal over a coherent period of time based on the first data input and the second data input to generate a resulting signal. The user equipment performs a non-coherent operation based on the resulting signal to amplify the resulting signal, and outputs a position of the user equipment based on the resulting signal.

A digital filter according to the disclosure includes a processing circuit having a memory and a number of parallel processing circuits. The parallel processing circuits perform a convolution operations based on input data and function data that is accessed from the memory. The filter further includes a serializer for serializing data that is received from the processing circuits. A clock generator circuit provides a first clock signal to the processing circuit and a second clock signal to the serializer. The frequency of the second clock signal is greater than that of the first clock signal.

A method and apparatus for performing a two-point calibration of a VCO in a PLL is disclosed. The method includes determining a first steady state tuning voltage of the VCO with no modulation voltage applied. Thereafter, an iterative process may be performed wherein a modulation voltage is applied to the VCO (along with the tuning voltage) and a modified divisor is applied to the divider circuit in the feedback loop. During each iteration, after the PLL is settled, the tuning voltage is measured and a difference between the current value and the first value is determined. If the current and first values of the turning voltage are not equal, another iteration may be performed, modifying at least one of the modulation voltage and the divisor, and determining the difference between the current and first values of the tuning voltage.

Method and apparatus for calibration of voltage controlled oscillator

An electronic device that communicates with a second electronic device using adaptive frequency hopping across different spectral bands is described. An integrated circuit in the electronic device includes processing logic that determines an adaptive spectral map that specifies channels across multiple spectral bands. During communication with a second electronic device that includes a second integrated circuit using a communication protocol (such as Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy), the integrated circuit selects channels in the adaptive spectral map, where selection can be based on a predefined frequency-hopping sequence.

A method and apparatus for measuring phase response in a radio receiver is disclosed. A radio receiver includes a digital-to-analog (D/A) conversion unit coupled to receive a test signal. The D/A conversion unit includes a number of single-bit digital-to-analog conversion (DAC) circuits coupled to receive the test signal and configured to convert it into the analog domain. Clock signals received by each of the single-bit DAC circuits are out of phase with respect to one another. The output of the D/A conversion unit is an analog signal that is a composite of the signals output by the DAC circuits therein. The analog signal is then conveyed to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and converted into an N-bit digital signal. The N-bit digital signal is then conveyed to a correlator to determine a phase response of the radio receiver.

Method and apparatus for measuring phase response

A communication device, such as a smart phone, receives operational parameters from a network controller. The operational parameters may include, as examples, bandwidth allocation, center frequency, and receive/transmit band assignments. The operational parameters (e.g., bandwidth allocation) may change on a subframe by subframe basis. In response to the operational parameters, the communication device determines a new configuration for an envelope tracking (ET) power supply. The communication device modifies the ET power supply to implement the new configuration. The new configuration may be chosen to adapt the ET power supply to meet the demands of the operation parameters, without excess power consumption.

In a communications network with carrier aggregation (CA), embodiments enable the network to advertise to a supported wireless device not only whether or not aggregated component carriers allocated to the wireless are intra-band adjacent but further whether or not the allocated component carriers are collocated. Embodiments further enable the wireless to advertise its CA capabilities including the support of adjacent collocated CA and/or non-adjacent collocated CA. Embodiments thus provide systems/methods for the exploitation of special conditions provided by adjacent collocated component carriers to reduce processing complexity and power consumption for certain types of wireless device transmitter/receiver architectures and to support intra-band adjacent CA for other types of UE transmitter/receiver architectures.

A wireless communication device is disclosed that includes multiple antennas capable of being used for carrier aggregation, and that uses its additional antennas to scan for available base stations without interfering with connectivity to a current base station and/or while maximizing useable bandwidth. The wireless communication device may scan using multiple of the antennas to maximize scanning results and reduce scan time, and may scan for available base stations using some of its antennas while maintaining its connection to the current base station with its other antennas. The device can also analyze control channel portions of received signals to utilize periods of signal inactivity to scan for available base stations, such as DRX or SPS modes of operation. In addition, the device can measure various parameters to optimize its scanning capabilities.

A wireless device performs antenna tuner updates at times that minimize adverse effects on transmit and receive channels of the wireless device. The wireless device includes an antenna, an RF front end, an antenna tuner circuit and a processing module. The antenna tuner circuit is configured to substantially match a source impedance of the RF front end to a load impedance of the antenna based on a control signal. The processing module is configured to identify an update time for providing the control signal to the antenna tuner circuit that minimizes adverse effects on at least one of the transmit channel and the receive channel.

A method and telecommunication device in which the telecommunication device is provided with multiple antennas and power amplifiers to provide a beamformed transmit stage. An envelope tracking circuit helps achieve significant power savings in the power amplifier and can be used to provide the power supply for the multiple power amplifiers. A single envelope tracking power supply may be used to produce the supply voltage to the individual power amplifiers that operate on the transmit signal and its phase shifted variant. Accordingly, the user equipment experiences the benefits of both reduced power consumption using the envelope tracker and beam formed transmission.

Embodiments provide methods and systems for transmitting an emergency (SOS) message from a user (UE) to a cellular network in a highly robust and energy efficient manner. Specifically, embodiments enable the SOS message to be sent in a synchronous manner despite the asynchronous nature of the network, which significantly enhances the probability of successful reception of the SOS message by at least one base station (eNodeB) of the network. Embodiments further provide highly robust SOS message transmission and reception schemes configured to enhance the successful detection and decoding of the SOS message by at least one base station of the cellular network. In addition, embodiments enable the synchronous transmission of the SOS message to the network without requiring network attachment by the UE. This makes embodiments highly suited for emergency situations in which network coverage is affected and can enable significant and precious power savings at the UE.

An envelope-tracking (ET) power supply may include a boost control pin. The boost control pin receives a boost enable signal that activates or enables a supplemental power supply in the ET power supply. The supplemental power supply facilitates the generation of a power supply signal for a selected processing stage, e.g., a power amplifier. The supplemental power supply helps the processing stage meet the demands on it caused by the signal that the processing stage needs to handle.

Embodiments provide systems and methods for producing an envelope tracking (ET) PA supply voltage with minimum headroom relative to the desired RF output signal of the PA. In an embodiment, the PA supply voltage is generated by applying an ET signal to an ET path of the wireless device, and by further applying pre-emphasis to the ET signal to compensate for a frequency response of the ET path. Embodiments operate by estimating the frequency response of the ET path and determining the pre-emphasis based on the estimate of the frequency response of the ET path. In embodiments, the pre-emphasis is applied using a pre-emphasis filter, which may be within or outside of the ET path. Further, the pre-emphasis may be applied to the ET signal in digital or analog form.

A communications device having a communication channel interface between a cellular communications module and a Global Navigation system (GNSS) module is provided. The communication channel interface can be used to forward one or more of: a frequency offset correction message, a fine time assistance (FTA) message, and an assisted-GNSS (A-GNSS) message from the cellular communications module to the GNSS module; to forward timing and frequency information from the GNSS module to the cellular communications module to enable a delayed sleep mode wake up of the cellular communications module; to enable hybrid data fusion between the cellular communications module and the GNSS module; and/or to offload processes from the GNSS module to the cellular communications module.
