A toy vehicle game includes a relatively flat slotless track having spaced sidewalls defining a pair of lanes therebetween. A pair of toy vehicles each having a body, a reversible electric motor and means for steering and/or biasing said vehicle into one or the other of the lanes depending upon the polarity of current supplied to the vehicle are provided for use on the track. Current is selectively and independently provided to the toy vehicles through current supply strips on the track and control means allows independent reversal of current supplied to the vehicles. Current pick-ups are provided on the vehicles in predetermined relation to one another and to the current supply strips on the track so that each vehicle is respectively associated with only one of the current supply strips, regardless of the direction of travel of the vehicle on the track.

Two-way slotless road racing game

A toy vehicle for use in a toy vehicle game including an endless track defining at least two parallelly extending vehicle lanes in which two or more toy vehicles are adapted to be operated. The toy vehicles each include a reversible rotary drive motor and a transmission operatively engaged between the motor and two drive wheels for simultaneously driving the drive wheels in the forward direction, while selectively driving them at different speeds, in response to the direction of rotation of the drive motor, thereby to control the turning radius of the vehicle when changing lanes and biasing the vehicle against one or the other of the side walls of the track to guide the vehicle along its path of travel in one or the other of the lanes.

Differential gear drive

A toy vehicle is provided for use in a toy vehicle game including an endless track defining at least two parallely extending vehicle lanes in which two or more toy vehicles are operated. The toy vehicles each include a reversible electric rotary drive motor and a transmission operatively engaged between the motor and the drive wheels for driving the vehicles in a forward direction regardless of the direction of rotation of the drive motor. The drive transmission has an idler drive member mounted on a rotatable frame in driving engagement with the output of the motor and is moved into driving engagement with one or the other of the drive wheels depending upon the direction of rotation of the drive motor. The vehicle also includes steering wheels and a second transmission connected between the motor and the steering wheels to rotate the steering wheels between their right and left hand driving positions in response to a reversal of the polarity of current supplied to the motor thereby to bias the car against one or the other of the side walls of the track to guide the vehicles along their path of travel in one or the other of the lanes.

A toy vehicle is provided for use in a toy vehicle game including an endless track defining at least two parallely extending vehicle lanes in which two or more toy vehicles are adapted to be operated. The toy vehicles each include a reversible electric rotary drive motor and a transmission operatively engaged between the motor and the drive wheels for driving the vehicles in a forward direction regardless of the direction of rotation of the drive motor. The vehicle includes steering wheels and a second transmission connected between the motor and the steering wheels to rotate the steering wheels between their right and left hand driving positions in response to a reversal of the polarity of current supplied to the motor thereby to bias the car against one or the other of the side walls of the track to guide the vehicles along their path of travel in one or the other of the lanes.

A control system permits the operators to separately and independently control current to the contact strips and also to selectively reverse the polarity of the current so that the operators can vary the speed of their associated vehicles and cause the vehicles to move from one lane to the other. The toy vehicle includes a swing gear responsive to the direction of rotation of the vehicle' s drive motor for driving one or the other of the rear wheels of the vehicle.
