A speaker system, particularly useful as a subwoofer, comprises an enclosure with one acoustic transducer facing to the right and one acoustic transducer facing to the left, which effectively cancels out transducer cone mass induced vibration within the enclosure. The enclosure also has one passive radiator facing up and one passive radiator facing down. The passive radiator facing down effectively couples acoustic energy at very low frequencies into the floor. The passive radiators each have a rather a large area and high mass. The large, high mass, bottom mounted passive radiator will produce large amounts of enclosure vibration, and so to cancel this vibration, the upper passive radiator is of substantially the same mass and size. The resulting system will be vibrationally balanced on all axes while simultaneously effectively coupling low frequency energy onto the floor of the listening room with good efficiency.

Vertically and horizontally balanced subwoofer

A stereo loudspeaker system with a right channel and a left channel respectively feeding R and L signals to four speakers (including a right main speaker, a right sub-speaker, a left main speaker and a left sub-speaker) includes a transformer that, depending on the frequency, magnetically couples or isolates the two channels at the right and left sub-speakers. At low frequencies, the transformer isolates the right channel from the left one so that the R signal goes primarily only to the two right speakers, and the L signal goes primarily only to the two left ones. At high frequencies, both the right and left main speakers still receive their respective R and L signals; however, the transformer's magnet coupling conveys a differential R-L signal to the right sub-speaker and a differential L-R signal to the left sub-speaker, thereby producing an expanded acoustic image and realistic ambient field.

Magnetic coupling for stereo loudspeaker systems

An audio transducer assembly configured for positioning with respect to a mounting surface, said assembly employing a tweeter in a directionally adjustable body which swivels radially and axially for positioning and directing the tweeter in a desired direction. By keeping the center of rotation at or near the center of the surface of the tweeter, the adjustment of the tweeter does not significantly offset its body in the X or Y direction through its range of motion. Such configuration allows for compensation of the distortion caused by placing the tweeter in the middle of a woofer in a speaker having multiple transducers in a single assembly.

Swivel tweeter mechanism for a constant phase coaxial acoustic transducer

A loudspeaker system includes an enclosure having an open end defining a plane, a baffle, a loudspeaker operating in the 4 kHz to 10 kHz range, and a device, preferably a ribbed portion having a plurality of grooves, coupled to the baffle for modifying the spectral profile of the projected sound waves. The baffle includes first and second angled surfaces each oriented at an oblique angle with respect to the plane. The speaker is coupled to the first angled surface and the ribbed portion is coupled to the baffle along the intersection of the first angled surface and the second angled surface. When mounted in a wall or ceiling, the system projects a sound field substantially indistinguishable from that of a loudspeaker located within the listener's listening plane. The baffle can also have acoustic damping material attached thereto, with grooves formed therein, to prevent reflections of 4 kHz to 10 kHz sound.

Ceiling or wall-mounted loudspeaker system with anti-diffraction wave launch device

An acoustic transducer includes a frame, voice coil movable along a pole, magnetic structure generating magnetic flux in a gap where the voice coil moves, diaphragm attached to the coil, waveguide extension in front of the pole, inner flexible roll seal connecting the waveguide extension to neck area of the diaphragm, and outer seal connecting outer periphery of the diaphragm to the frame. The inner flexible roll seal seals the gap between the voice coil and the pole, isolating the air in front of the diaphragm from the air behind the diaphragm. The inner seal provides damping of unwanted resonances of the diaphragm. Together, the inner seal and the outer seal do not substantially decrease the piston area of the transducer, and do not substantially affect the transducer's movement. In combination, the inner seal and the waveguide extension tend to increase efficiency and decrease audio distortions of the transducer.

Electrodynamic acoustic transducer

A portable topical heat transfer device for topically cooling an animal or human when required such as to relieve pain and swelling from injured joints or muscles or the like. The device comprises a thermoelectric unit having a cold side and a warm side, a DC source which is connected to the thermoelectric unit, a heat sink which is mounted in a heat conductive relationship with the warm side of the thermoelectric unit, a fan for removing heat from the heat sink, and a strap or the like for securing the device to the body of a person.
