Embodiments of this invention generally relate to ophthalmic laser procedures and, more particularly, to systems and methods for creating synchronized three-dimensional laser incisions. In an embodiment, an ophthalmic surgical laser system comprises a laser delivery system for delivering a pulsed laser beam to a target in a subject's eye, an XY-scan device to deflect the pulsed laser beam, a Z-scan device to modify a depth of a focus of the pulsed laser beam, and a controller configured to synchronize an oscillation of the XY-scan device and an oscillation of the Z-device to form an angled three-dimensional laser tissue dissection.

Systems and methods for synchronized three-dimensional laser incisions

Apparatus and methods are provided for interfacing an ophthalmic surgical laser with an eye using a patient interface (PI). The PI may include a closed, fluid-filled bladder having fiducials that contacts and deforms to the eye. Or, the PI may have an applanation lens with an outer ring portion and an inner concave portion for receiving the apex of the cornea. Another PI features a suction ring with a flexible skirt for contacting the sclera that is non-circular and/or non-planar. A system for injecting an index matching fluid into the area above the eye may also be incorporated. An integrated system includes a co-molded lens cone and attachment ring, with a lens window at the bottom of the lens cone which provides a sealed volume for vacuum-attaching a laser delivery system above the lens cone.

Hybrid ophthalmic interface apparatus

A system and method for performing ophthalmic surgery using an ultra-short pulsed laser is provided. The system includes a laser engine configured to provide an ultra-short pulsed laser beam, optics configured to direct the laser beam to an undocked eye of a patient, an eye tracker configured to measure five degrees of freedom of movement of the undocked eye, an optical coherence tomography module configured to measure depth of the undocked eye, and a controller configured to control laser beam position on the undocked eye toward a desired laser pattern based on depth and the five degrees of freedom of movement of the undocked eye. Adaptive optics are also provided. Also disclosed are a scleral ring including fiducial markings and a compliant contact lens and fluid tillable contact lens configured to facilitate ultra-short pulsed laser surgery while reducing or eliminating eye docking requirements.

System and method for ophthalmic laser surgery employing eye tracking without eye docking

Apparatus and methods are provided for interfacing a surgical laser with an eye using a patient interface device that minimizes aberrations through a combination of a contact lens surface positioning and a liquid medium between an anterior surface of the eye and the contact lens surface. Further, support rings, ocular stability devices, and methods for interfacing an eye during laser surgery are provided. In an embodiment, by way of example only, a support ring includes a first end surface, a second end surface opposite the first end surface, and an outer surface extending between the first end surface and the second end surface. The second end surface has a width that is greater than a width of the first end surface and extends toward a central opening in the support ring to define a concave curvature configured to substantially match a curvature of a patient's eye. The outer surface includes an annular groove formed adjacent the first end surface and a plurality of exterior vacuum channels spaced around the annular groove and extends axially from the annular groove to the second end surface.

A scanning lens component includes a primary and transverse axis stages and motors. The primary axis motor includes a first coil moving along the primary axis in the first direction along with the primary axis stage and a first magnet configured to move in a second, opposite direction, in response to movement of the first coil a first distance that exceeds a threshold primary axis distance. The transverse axis stage is adjacent and coupled to the primary axis stage and moves along a transverse axis in a third direction. The transverse axis motor includes a second coil for moving along the transverse axis in the third direction with the transverse axis stage, and a second magnet configured to move in a fourth, opposite direction, in response to movement of the second coil along the transverse axis in the third direction a second distance that exceeds a threshold transverse axis distance.

Scanning lens systems and methods of reducing reaction forces therein

The field of the invention relates to systems and methods for ophthalmic laser procedure and, more particularly, to systems and methods for dynamic fixation used in the fixation of the eye(s) of a patient during laser-assisted ophthalmic surgery and/or ophthalmic diagnostic and measurement systems where visualization and concentration on a target are desired. The invention generally enhances the alignment between the eye and a laser beam of a laser eye surgery system using visual fixation system and laser delivery optics. The visual fixation system allows a patient's eye(s) to be accurately focused at one or more fixation targets.
