In one or more embodiments, one or more devices, systems, and/or methods may address solutions and/or innovations for 5G System edge computing, edge applications, and/or other wireless systems. For example, one or more of the following techniques may be used to address shared-application vertical-session-based edge-application-instance discovery and selection: there may be an application vertical-session identifier; one or more application-vertical-session-based EAS registration, discovery, and selection procedures; application-vertical-session-based EDN/EES provisioning; and/or, application-vertical-session management.

Shared-application vertical-session-based-edge-application-instance discovery and selection

A method performed by a network entity includes receiving a first instruction element (IE) indicating an identity of a wireless device and receiving a second IE indicating an action to buffer data intended for the wireless device, buffering the data intended for the wireless device, receiving a third IE indicating the identity of the wireless device and receiving a fourth IE indicating an action to stop buffering data and release the buffered data intended for the wireless device. The network entity then may transmit at least a portion of the buffered data to the wireless device.

Extended 5G local area network interworking with a home network and change of access network for 5G LAN connected devices

A client application running on a WTRU is configured to communicate data traffic over a TCP session with an MPTCP stack running on the WTRU. The data traffic is exchanged with a server application over a first MPTCP sub-flow with a first mobile edge (ME) host device. The WTRU is anchored to a second ME anchor node. The WTRU receives a first message from a second ME host device indicating that the WTRU should join a second MPTCP sub-flow with the second ME host device. The WTRU joins the second MPTCP sub-flow, responsive to the first message, wherein the second sub-flow is configured not to exchange data traffic. The WTRU receives a second message from the second ME host device configuring the second MPTCP sub-flow to exchange data traffic. The WTRU exchanges the data traffic with the server application over the second MPTCP sub-flow with the second ME host device.

Application mobility based on enhanced MPTCP

A wireless transmit/receive unit, WTRU, connects to a first AP, receives domain identifiers, requests corresponding descriptors and receives a list of descriptors. An application on the WTRU requests a list of domains and attributes corresponding to service names or service sets, which is returned by the WTRU. The application selects one or more domains for communications, the WTRU selects corresponding network resources and the application connects to local services. After moving to a new location, the WTRU connects to a second AP and receives a second set of domain identifiers, selects the one matching the request from the application and provides these to the application that, with the aid of the WTRU connects to local services.

Methods and devices for handling virtual domains

As disclosed herein, there are one or more methods, systems, and/or devices relating to enhanced broadcast services and network optimization. In one example, a wireless network node may send a consumed service discovery request to a station (STA) via an access network query protocol (ANQP), wherein the STA is not associated with the network node. The network node may receive a consumed service discovery response including a set of service IDs and a BSSID of an access point (AP) for each service ID in the set of service IDs, wherein each service ID of the set of service IDs is a service consumed by the STA. In some cases, the consumed services are enhanced broadcast services (eBCS), the request is an ANQP query encapsulated in a GAS broadcast message, and/or request is an ANQP query encapsulated in a GAS groupcast message or a GAS unicast message.

Systems and methods related to enhanced broadcast services in a multi-acces point system

A WTRU may perform cERFs. A method may include any of: transmitting, to a nEAR, a signal requesting an IP address identifying (e.g., associated with) a DNS server associated with the WTRU; applying, by the WTRU, any of EI record rules for the identified DNS server, or updating EI records with the IP address identifying the DNS server; transmitting, to a DNS server, a DNS query associated with a FQDN; receiving, in response to the DNS query, FQDN resolution from the DNS server; on condition that a mobility event of the WTRU occurs, transmitting, to the nEAR, a signal requesting information for updating the EI records of the WTRU; and applying, by the WTRU, any of the updated EI record rules in order to perform any of: (1) redirecting application session traffic to provides session continuity for the WTRU, and (2) breaking any number of application sessions.

Methods, apparatus, and system for edge resolution function

Service information (e.g., enhanced broadcast service (eBCS) information) may be distributed. Service (e.g., eBCS) capabilities may be advertised (e.g., by an access point (AP)), for example, by broadcasting a public action frame. A public action frame may include per-service information. A public action frame may be transmitted on a per service basis. A public action frame may combine authentication information and service information. Enhanced broadcast service origin authentication may be performed on a per service basis (e.g., using origin authentication information to authenticate broadcast data frames for a consumed service). Origin authentication information may be common to frames associated with different services. Services may be consumed without querying a service originating device. Stations (e.g., with and without association with an AP) may report consumption or usage of services, Reporting may be unsolicited or solicited (e.g., in response to a request from an AP).

Distributing service information

Methods and apparatuses are described herein for multicast and unicast MAC address assignment protocol (MUMAAP). A first node may transmit, to a second node, based on a unicast MAC address of the second node or a multicast MAC address associated with the second node, a discover message that may include a first MAC address or a first range of MAC addresses. The first node may receive an offer message with a second range of MAC addresses. If the first node selects a second MAC address from the received second range of MAC addresses, the first node may transmit a request message indicating that the second MAC address or the second range of MAC addresses is allocated to the first node. The first node may receive an acknowledge message indicating that the second MAC address or the second range of MAC addresses is allocated to the first node.

Multicast and unicast medium access control (MAC) address assignment protocol (MUMAAP)

Methods, apparatus, systems, architectures and interfaces for a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) performing a client-side edge resolution function (cERF) are provided. A method may include any of: determining a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) associated with a domain name server (DNS) request of an application associated with the WTRU; if the FQDN is associated with a valid edge instance (EI) record, selecting an EI for resolving the FQDN to an IP address; if the FQDN is not associated with a valid EI record: (1) transmitting a DNS query to a DNS server, (2) receiving an IP address associated with a selected EI to which the FQDN is resolved, and (3) updating the EI record with the IP address and the FQDN; and generating a traffic steering rule to re-direct uplink traffic associated with the application to the selected EI.

Methods and apparatuses are described for dynamic medium access control (MAC) address distribution in a wireless network. A station (STA) may receive, from an access point (AP), a frame that includes an indicator indicating at least one MAC address type or MAC address policy supported by an extended service set (ESS) associated with the AP. The indicator may comprise an 8 bit bitmap. The STA may then transmit, to the AP, a request message that includes MAC Address Assignment Protocol information determined based on the at least one MAC address type or MAC address policy. The STA may receive a response message that includes a local medium access control (MAC) address assigned based on the MAC Address Assignment Protocol information. The STA may transmit, to the AP, an association request frame with the local MAC address.

Methods and procedures for the dynamic mac address distribution in IEEE 802.11 networks

Methods, devices, and systems for third party edge cloud service providers (CSPs) to provide edge computing services to network service providers. The edge computing service is initialized in a network. Network information services of the network are discovered. A location of a cloud resource in the network may be dynamically changed. User plane traffic is steered toward the location of the cloud resource. In some embodiments, initializing the edge computing service includes transmitting an identity of a valid user and a data network name to a network function virtualization management and organization system, or transmitting a user subscription list to a network exposure function. In some embodiments, dynamically changing the location of a cloud resource and steering user plane traffic toward the location of the cloud resource includes determining a number of users of an edge application at a location, and a network requirement of the edge application.

Enhanced NEF function, MEC and 5G integration

Methods, systems, and instrumentalities are described to obtain application-based connectivity. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may, in response to a request to access a connectivity-sponsored application, establish a control connection over a first access network for contacting an application connectivity coordinator. The establishment of control connection may include sending an attach request, receiving an IP address for a control link to the application connectivity coordinator, and receiving an IP address. Using the control connection, the WTRU may send an access network discovery request to the application connectivity coordinator. The WTRU may receive, from the application connectivity coordinator, a list of access networks. The WTRU may select a second access network from the list of access networks to access the connectivity-sponsored application.

Connectivity augmented services architecture, discovery and connection

A method of Inter-User Equipment (UE) Transfer (IUT) for use in an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) capable wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising: receiving a registration request from a non-IMS capable WTRU; translating the registration request to an IMS based message; transmitting the translated IMS based message to a Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server (SCC AS), transmitting an IUT transfer command, transmitting an IUT process message; receiving an IUT process-accept message; and establishing an IMS session between the non-IMS capable WTRU and the remote party.

Method and apparatus for inter-device transfer (handoff) between IMS and generic IP clients

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed to communicate traffic flow information to a network. A user equipment (UE) may detect a traffic flow (e.g., using one or more of the traffic detection implementations described herein). A 5-tuple associated with the traffic flow may be unknown by the network. The UE may issue an alert to the network. The alert may indicate to the network that the traffic flow has been detected. The UE may determine the 5-tuple associated with the traffic flow. The UE may report the 5-tuple to the network. The report may be in response to one or more of: a request received from the network requesting traffic flow information; or, a determination that a first policy condition has been met.

Managing data mobility policies

A method of Inter-User Equipment (UE) Transfer (IUT) for use in an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) capable wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising: receiving, at the IMS capable WTRU, an IUT session transfer command from a non-IMS capable WTRU via non-IMS signaling; translating, at the IMS capable WTRU, the IUT session transfer command to an IMS based message; and transmitting, from the IMS capable WTRU, the translated IMS based message to a Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server (SCC AS).
