Rotor blades, vibrational dampening elements, and methods are provided. A rotor blade includes a platform, a shank extending radially inward from the platform, and an airfoil extending radially outward from the platform. One or more fluid chambers are defined within the rotor blade. Glass is disposed within each fluid chamber of the one or more fluid chambers. A mass is disposed within each fluid chamber of the one or more fluid chambers. The mass is movable within the glass relative to the airfoil.

A vibration damping system for a turbine nozzle or blade includes a body opening extending through a body of the turbine nozzle or blade between a tip end and a base end thereof. Elongated vibration damping element is disposed in the body opening and includes an elongated body having a first, free end and a second end fixed relative to one of the base end and the tip end. At least one wire mesh member surrounds the elongated body. The wire mesh member(s) frictionally engage with an inner surface of the body opening to damp vibration. A related method is also disclosed.

A nozzle for a turbine system includes an airfoil, an inner sidewall, and an outer sidewall. Each of the inner sidewall and outer sidewall includes a peripheral edge defining a pressure side slash face, a suction side slash face, a leading edge face, and a trailing edge face. At least one of the inner sidewall pressure side slash face, the inner sidewall suction side slash face, the outer sidewall pressure side slash face, or the outer sidewall suction side slash face includes a first swept surface extending at a first angle relative to a nominal slash face angle and a second swept surface extending at a second angle relative to the nominal slash face angle. The first and second swept surfaces meet at an arc having a peak that is circumferentially aligned with a stiffening member extending circumferentially on a respective sidewall.

A fixture for drilling a hole in a superalloy turbine blade includes a mount to selectively hold a root of the superalloy turbine blade with the superalloy turbine blade extending from the mount. The fixture may also include an actuator to apply a force to elastically deform at least a portion of the superalloy turbine blade when held by the mount from a relaxed, initial position to an elastically deformed position, the at least a portion of the superalloy turbine blade having a curvature in the elastically deformed position not present in the relaxed, initial position. The fixture may also include a drill guide configured to guide a drilling element into the superalloy turbine blade in the elastically deformed position.

In a method for infusing a gas from a gas source into a liquid beverage, liquid beverage is driven from a beverage container into a liquid inlet port of a venturi mixing device. Nitrogen is infused into the liquid beverage by driving nitrogen through a gas inlet port of the venturi mixing device, thereby delivering nitrogen-infused liquid beverage to a discharge port of the venturi mixing device. The nitrogen-infused liquid beverage is poured from the discharge port through a faucet.

In some cases, the device can include: a body portion having an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface defining an inner region; at least one aperture in the body portion, the at least one aperture positioned to direct fluid from the inner region through the body portion; and at least one fluid receiving feature formed in the outer surface of the body portion, the at least one fluid receiving feature positioned to receive post-impingement fluid from the at least one aperture, wherein the at least one aperture does not define any portion of the at least one fluid receiving feature, and the at least one fluid receiving feature segregates relatively higher velocity post-impingement fluid from relatively lower velocity fluid within an impingement cross-flow region.

The coupon includes: a coupon body including: a coolant feed; an outward leg extending toward an edge of the coupon and fluidly coupled to the coolant feed; a return leg extending away from the edge of the coupon and radially offset from the outward leg along a radial axis of the coupon; a turn for fluidly coupling the outward leg and the return leg; a collection passage fluidly coupled to the return leg; and a coupling region configured to mate with an airfoil body of the airfoil.

A rotor blade for a turbomachine includes an airfoil having a leading edge, a trailing edge, a root, and a tip. The airfoil defines a chord extending from the leading edge to the trailing edge and a span extending from the root to the tip. A first particle-filled damper is positioned within the airfoil between fifty percent of the chord and one hundred percent of the chord.

The present disclosure provides an apparatus for use in reducing the impact to the head during sporting activities. The present disclosure provides a helmet cap that covers an underlying hard shell helmet. The helmet cap has a durable, energy absorbing outer shell, which lessens the initial impact to the helmet. The outer shell is formed into segments of padded material that may deform on impact. The outer shell has an inner surface that allows the outer shell to slide over the surface of a helmet thereby reducing forces applied to a wearer. The helmet cap may be securely attached to helmets without modification of the helmets. The helmet cap may include an adjustable fastener that allows the helmet cap to be securely attached to helmets of varying dimensions.

A method includes applying a force to elastically deform at least a portion of a superalloy turbine blade from a relaxed, initial position to an elastically deformed position. The at least a portion of the superalloy turbine blade has a curvature in the elastically deformed position not present in the relaxed, initial position. A hole is drilled generally span-wise through the at least a portion of the superalloy turbine blade in the elastically deformed position, and when the force is released, the superalloy turbine blade returns to the relaxed, initial position and the hole takes on a hole curvature within the at least a portion of the superalloy turbine blade.

In a device for infusing a gas from a gas source into a liquid beverage, a beverage container defines an interior for holding the liquid beverage therein. A venturi mixing device has a liquid inlet port in fluid communication with the beverage container, a gas inlet port in fluid communication with the gas source and a discharge port. The venturi mixing device is configured to infuse the gas received from the gas source into liquid beverage received from the beverage container. A faucet is in fluid communication with the discharge port of the venturi mixing device and is configured to dispense the liquid beverage infused with the gas.

A drilling tool for use in machining a conductive work piece is provided. The tool includes a body portion, a forward electrode coupled to the body portion, and at least one side electrode coupled to the body portion. When electric current is supplied to the forward electrode and the at least one side electrode, material adjacent to the forward electrode and the at least one side electrode is removed from the conductive work piece. Further, the forward electrode and the at least one side electrode are selectively operable to form a bore hole having a variable geometry that extends through the conductive work piece when the material is removed therefrom.

Systems and methods are provided for controlling a selective catalyst reduction (SCR) system having a SCR reactor. A reductant slip set point indicative of a target slip is received as a control variable is to be utilized for maintaining an amount of a NOcomposition included in a combustion gas below a selected limit. A signal transmitted by a sensor is received, and is indicative of the reductant slip downstream of the SCR reactor. An amount of a NOreductant to be introduced to the SCR reactor is determined based, at least in part, on a relationship between the target reductant slip and the reductant slip downstream of the SCR reactor indicated by the signal. A control signal is transmitted to cause introduction of the amount of the NOreductant to the SCR reactor to maintain the amount of the NOcomposition in the combustion gas below the selected limit.

The present application thus provides a gas turbine engine system. The gas turbine engine system may include a gas turbine engine, a nitrogen oxides reduction system in communication with a flow of combustion gases downstream from the gas turbine engine, and a nitrogen oxides controller to control the ratio of nitrogen dioxide to nitrogen oxides in the flow of combustion gases entering the nitrogen oxides reduction system.
