A method for upgrading a dual-band antenna assembly to a tri-band antenna assembly is provided. The dual-band antenna assembly includes a main reflector, and first and second antenna feeds arranged in a coaxial relationship and directed toward the main reflector. The first and second antenna feeds are for first and second frequency bands, respectively. The method includes positioning a third antenna feed through a medial opening in a center of the main reflector, with the third antenna feed directed towards the first and second antenna feeds. The third antenna feed is for a third frequency band. A subreflector is positioned between the main reflector and the first and second antenna feeds. The subreflector includes a frequency selective surface (FSS) material that is reflective for the third frequency band and transmissive for both the first and second frequency bands.

Method for upgrading a satellite antenna assembly and an associated upgradable satellite antenna assembly

UGV bridging system includes a first end of a first elongated span of a hinged bridge structure disposed on a deployment support bracket which is secured to a UGV. A second elongated span is hingedly supported at a second end of the first elongated span opposed from the first end. A tension element applies a tension force to the first elongated span at a location intermediate the first and second ends. The tension force secures the first elongated span in a stowed position adjacent the deployment support bracket. A retention element associated with the deployment support bracket prevents the second elongated span from rotating about the hinge axis in response to a spring bias force. Deployment involves pivoting the first elongated span and concurrently releasing the second elongated span from the retention element in response to the extending.

Robotic bridging system

A method for upgrading a dual-band antenna assembly to a tri-band antenna assembly is provided. The dual-band antenna system includes a main reflector, a strut assembly coupled to the main reflector defining an antenna feed receiving area spaced from the main reflector, and a subreflector carried by the strut assembly and also spaced from the main reflector. The subreflector includes a frequency selective surface (FSS) material that is reflective for both a first frequency band and a second frequency band and transmissive for a third frequency band. First and second antenna feeds are arranged in a coaxial relationship adjacent the main reflector and directed toward the subreflector. The first and second antenna feeds are for first and second frequency bands, respectively. The method includes positioning a third antenna feed at the antenna feed receiving area and directed towards the subreflector and the main reflector. The third antenna feed is for the third frequency band.

Method for upgrading a satellite antenna assembly having a subreflector and an associated satellite antenna assembly

An antenna assembly includes a main reflector, and a subreflector spaced from the main reflector. The subreflector includes a frequency selective surface (FSS) material that is reflective for a first frequency band and transmissive for both a second frequency band and a third frequency band. A first antenna feed is adjacent the main reflector and is directed toward the subreflector. The first antenna feed is for the first frequency band. The second and third antenna feeds are arranged in a coaxial relationship and are directed toward the main reflector with the subreflector therebetween. The second and third antenna feeds are for the second and third frequencies, respectively.

Multi-band satellite antenna assembly and associated methods

An antenna assembly includes a main reflector, and a subreflector spaced from the main reflector. The subreflector includes a frequency selective surface (FSS) material that is transmissive for a first frequency band and reflective for both a second frequency band and a third frequency band. A first antenna feed is adjacent the subreflector and is directed toward the main reflector. The first antenna feed is for the first frequency band. Second and third antenna feeds are arranged in a coaxial relationship adjacent the main reflector and are directed toward the subreflector. Multi-band satellite antenna assembly with dual feeds in a coaxial relationship and associated methods

Systems are provided for positioning passive reflectors, such a lens/mirror assemblies, and other types of reflectors that need to be pointed in a particular direction. The systems can effectuate control of both the elevation and azimuth angles of the reflector. The systems can be configured so that a mount can rotate so as to vary the azimuth angle of the reflector by 360&#xb0; or more without a need to reverse the direction of rotation of the reflector, and without the use of slip rings, RF rotary joints, or electrical cable wraps.

An apparatus () for transferring heat from a first substrate () rotatably mounted to a second substrate (). The apparatus () is comprised of at least a first fin ring () disposed concentrically on a first side surface () of the first substrate (). A plurality of heat generating devices () is disposed on a second side surface () of the first substrate (). There is at least a second fin ring () disposed concentrically on a first side surface () of the second substrate (). The first fin ring () interleaves with the second fin ring () while allowing the first substrate () to rotate unobstructed relative to the second substrate (). The second substrate () has at least a first port () for introducing moving air into a gap (G) defined between the first fin ring () and the second fin ring () for improving heat convection there between.

Non-contacting thermal rotary joint

An antenna system includes a base, a turntable rotatably mounted on the base, and an elevation assembly carried on the turntable. An antenna is carried by the elevation assembly. The turntable has an antenna relief opening therein to permit the elevation assembly to position a lower portion of the antenna therein. The antenna system may further include an RF absorbing shroud carried by the turntable and that has an antenna receiving recess to receive the antenna therein. The antenna receiving recess may have lower portions extending into the antenna relief opening of the turntable.

Low profile antenna system and associated methods

A generator/sensor may include a pair of arcuate swing arms having respective opposing ends pivotally carried by a base so that the arcuate swing arms are transverse to one another and define a movable crossing point therebetween. A body may be carried by the arcuate swing arms at the crossing point therebetween. At least one electrical generator may be driven by relative movement between the body and the base, such as to generate electrical power or to sense movement, for example. The body may be a pendulum mass or sail responsive to fluid flow.

Apparatus for electrical signal generation based upon movement and associated methods

An electrical connector for electrical connection to conductive members of a ceramic chip carrier comprises first and second dielectric frame members each of which has opposed side members in which electrical terminal posts are secured at spaced intervals with top sections extending above upper surfaces of the side members and bottom sections extending below bottom surfaces of the side members. Rail members extend between respective side members of each of the frame members so that when the frame members are nested together the rail members of one of the frame members are disposed in engagement with the rail members of the other of the frame members. Latching members on each of the frame members latch the frame members together thereby forming a chip carrier-receiving area so that the top sections of the terminal posts can be electrically connected to respective conductive members when the ceramic chip carrier is positioned within the chip carrier-receiving area.

Method of making an electrical connector

A modular receptacle housing is formed by four identical housing modules of molded rigid insulative material, which modules are interlocked to form a single housing. Each housing module carries a plurality of receptacle terminals. The arrangement of modules can readily be adopted to accommodate a wide variety of pin counts and configurations.
