A suspension ceiling grid system is disclosed which provides intersections including through-runners and oppositely extending runner ends. The through-runner is provided with a connector opening and the runner ends are provided with identical end connectors. The end connectors are engaged and disengaged by lateral movement and provide spring means which resiliently urge the end connectors toward the locked position. The end connectors provide two locking systems, one of which provides a connection with the through-runner when only one connector is installed in the connector opening, and subsequently provides an improved strength functionally direct connection between the two end connectors when two end connectors are installed within the connector opening from opposite sides. The end connectors provide a second separate locking system which directly connects between the two end connectors. In one embodiment, a connector system is disclosed which allows easy removal of a runner within an assembled grid.

Grid tees for suspension ceilings are disclosed in which a cross section is provided concentrating material at the two extremities of the grid tees. Such grid tee sections are also formed to provide a shear center which is centrally located substantially along the web section of the tee. In some embodiments, a single strip is formed to provide three laterally extending layers adjacent to the upper extremity of the bulb, and in another embodiment a single strip of material is formed to concentrate material on one side of the web at the bulb extremity and on the other side of the web at the flange extremity so as to balance the section and locate the shear center along the web plane.

An elongated bracket used in converting a tee grid/lay-in panel ceiling structure to a linear beam array structure. The bracket has first gripping elements for attachment of the bracket to tees with lay-in panels in place on such tees and second gripping elements for subsequent attachment of linear beams to the bracket.

A fire rated, demountable partition structure is disclosed which provides H-shaped studs having a core of combustion-resistant insulation material and opposed channel-shaped metal members secured to opposite faces thereof. Spline clips secure one side of the stud to the panel at joints therebetween. Each clip includes a lateral projection extending with a close fit into a kerf in the edge of the panel and a reverse bend providing opposed clip walls which fit along opposite sides of an adjacent flange on the stud. If the partition is exposed to a fire or the like, which tends to cause shrinkage of the panels and opening of the joints, the core of the stud bridges the joint and prevents direct exposure of the metal channel elements of the stud to heat or water through the opened joint. The spline clips are free to expand if the clips are subjected to greater heat than the channel members so that the stud is not caused to bow toward the fire side of the partition.
