A system and method for elevating a construction implement relative to a surface under construction includes erecting a support post having a generally hollow cavity on the surface under construction, such as a dam. A quantity of granular material is then dumped into the hollow cavity of the support post. The support post and, specifically, the construction implement, is then jacked to a desired height relative to the surface. A portion of the granular material is then permitted to disperse through and beneath the support post thereby creating a higher support structure on which the support post may then rest. This process may be repeated as the construction progresses and the surface is gradually raised.

System and method for elevating a support post

A device for spreading aggregate material from a discharge conveyor onto a work surface includes a tremie attached relative to the discharge conveyor and a flexible hose connected to the tremie. A crank connected between the tremie and the discharge conveyor permits adjustment of a frequency and an amplitude of the tremie to provide a desired windrow of material on the surface. A distal end of the discharge conveyor is preferably moveable relative to a supply of material to further optimize the desired windrow of material.

Conveyor discharge device

Single-track and a dual-track conveyor support crawlers are employed in conjunction with a mobile conveyor system. The crawlers comprise rotational coupling between single-track base units and structure link members. The crawlers further comprise a steering subsystem to control relative rotation between the single-track base units and the structure link members. The crawlers comprise translational coupling between the single-track base units and the structure link members, and elevation control subsystems to control the relative vertical position between the single-track base units and the structure link members.

Conveyor support crawler for a mobile conveyor system

A conveyor truss module for constructing conveyor support spans includes a substantially rectangular base assembly and a single-pin top chord joint. The conveyor truss module also includes a plurality of lacing struts coupled to the single-pin top chord joint and the corners of the base assembly.

Modular truss assembly for a conveyor system

A chord member for facilitating the assembly and disassembly of a concrete conveyor system including a top flange defining a first plane, a pair of depending lips positioned at either end of the top flange, a bottom flange defining a second plane parallel to the first plane and a middle flange defining a third plane perpendicular to the first plane. A clevis is coupled to the top flange or the bottom flange so that a truss of the conveyor system can be attached to the clevis.

Conveyor modular construction techniques

Apparatus for raising a conveyor above the surface of a poured concrete structure as the structure is formed includes a post moveable in a vertical direction that supports a conveyor on top of the post. A horizontal support tube is connected to the post, as well as a collar. A jack engages the support and raises the post and collar. A hydraulic means then places a base around the post below the collar so that when the jack is lowered, the conveyor, post and collar are supported by the newly placed base, thereby raising the conveyor relative to the surface of the structure.

Conveyor elevating techniques

A self-propelled vehicle mounting a cantilevered conveyor truss for concrete and the like. An improved force balancing frame enables the vehicle to remain stable even though the truss conveyor is extended to maximum length and elevated to a high angle. Improved geometry enables the truss conveyor to be pivoted at a point above a cab mounted on a turntable of the vehicle and forward of the axis of rotation of the turntable, thereby facilitating the deposit of concrete on the conveyor. Polyethylene pads control the motion of the truss conveyors, especially when the truss conveyor is elevated to a high angle. A unique drive assembly enables a mid-section and fly section of the truss conveyor to be moved simultaneously with respect to a base section of truss conveyor such that the fly section moves at twice the rate of the mid-section.

Cantilever conveying techniques

An apparatus for delivering concrete to two spaced deposition points having a funnel-shaped hopper with a pair of outlets in the bottom which deposit concrete on conveyors. An inclined chute feeds concrete to the inner conical wall of the hopper as the chute rotates to minimize segregation of the concrete. Each outlet has a gate to control flow of the concrete to the conveyor beneath. To divert concrete from the hopper a side discharge chute is pivotally mounted in the conical wall of the hopper and can be tilted to receive concrete discharged from the inclined chute.

Concrete delivery system

The disclosure describes a method and apparatus for continuous mixing, transporting and placing of large quantities of concrete in which aggregate transported on a belt conveyor is mixed with metered quantities of cement and water adjacent a place of pouring. Alternatively, mixed concrete is transported to a place of pouring protected from the elements on a belt conveyor covered by a tunnel that confines cooled air.

Large scale concrete conveyance techniques

A concrete finishing machine having a movable framework mounted transversely over a paved area and defining an axis. A carriage is movably attached to the framework and has means for moving the carriage along the length of the framework. The carriage carries at least one rotating auger unit having leading and trailing portions mounted on one shaft and a finishing member. The auger unit has a leading portion having a helically arranged blade with an outer edge that is positioned in a fixed, spaced relationship with a desired grade. The trailing portion has a helically arranged blade with a band attached thereto to spread forward the excess concrete left by the leading portion and to finish the concrete at the desired grade. Plunging concrete vibrators are placed adjacent the auger unit leading portions. Means for conveying concrete, aligned with the framework axis, is mounted on the framework and has a side discharge station, movably mounted on the conveyor, for directing concrete from the conveying means to the paving area along the framework length. The side discharge stations has a plow, discharge chute and operator platform to centrally control all machine operations. The framework has track engaging end sections for support. Adjustment means are mounted on the end sections to maintain a desired grade for the concrete finishing operations during skewed movement of the framework axis relative to an axis perpendicular to the direction of framework travel.

Concrete finishing machine

An improved dowel or tying bar and joint construction for transferring stresses across a joint between concrete slabs or structures and accommodating for shrinkage and expansion of concrete. The bar has a resilient facing attached to at least one side of the bar so that the concrete slab or structure can move in relationship to the bar in a direction substantially perpendicular to the resilient facing. The bar is arranged across the joint in a direction substantially perpendicular to the axis defined by the joint.

Tying bar for concrete joints

An over-the-road vehicle having a pivotally-mounted telescoping boom which moves in and out, up and down, and from side to side. An extensible concrete conveyor belt is mounted on the boom for movement with the boom for conveying and placing concrete within the reach of the boom. The vehicle is equipped with stabilizing outriggers which are pivotally mounted on the vehicle and can be folded back in nesting relation to minimize the width of the vehicle during transit. The vehicle also carries a separate belt conveyor for feeding concrete to the extensible conveyor, the discharge end of said separate conveyor being mounted on arms which fold down to reduce the overall height of the vehicle during transit.

Vehicle-mounted extensible conveyor

A load sensor for a concrete conveyor having a tremie which sounds a signal and releases the tremie in case the tremie becomes overloaded. The device has a U-shaped deflection yoke between the tremie and the conveyor which deflects under the weight of the tremie to close switches and actuate the appropriate safety device. All parts are protected from concrete to insure proper functioning.

Load sensor

A concrete placing boom device includes a rail-mounted base, extensible outriggers and a jointed two-section cantilevered arm structure that supports a jointed two-section pipeline. Preferably, the inner arm section is pivotally mounted on the base for rotation about a vertical axis and the outer arm section is pivotally mounted on the inner arm section for rotation and angular elevation. The device is joined with pins for assembly and disassembly for easy transport.

Swivel arm concrete placer

Apparatus for conveying concrete mix to distant, elevated points includes a two-segment discharge conveyor with its outer segment suspended from a movable trolley that is mounted on the boom of a cantilever crane. The segments are pivotally joined and the discharge point of the outer segment may be positioned by swinging the boom and first conveyor and driving the trolley along the boom.
