A labeled article, a method of making the labeled article, and a label for use in such method, contemplate the manufacture of an article having an article body made of a moldable material, and a label, integral with the article body and having an outer label surface coplanar with the outer article body surface. The label is inserted into the mold and molded into place as the article body is molded. The label has an outer film ply defining the outer label surface, a printable sheet ply inward from said outer film ply, and an adhesive layer between the outer film ply and the printable sheet ply. The outer film ply has a length and a width greater than the length and width of the printable sheet ply. The outer film ply extends beyond the printable sheet ply adjacent all edges of the printable sheet ply and shields the printable sheet ply from exposure to the environment surrounding the labeled article.

Systems, methods, and apparatus for marking, verifying, and authenticating consumer products

An in-mold labeling system includes a molding apparatus having a first mold half and a second mold half that opposes the first mold half, the mold halves defining at least one mold cavity contained within a cavity wall. The in-mold labeling system further comprises a polymeric label receptor fixed to at least a portion of the cavity wall of the at least one mold cavity. The polymeric label receptor has a tacky contact face facing the inside of the at least one mold cavity when the molding apparatus is in the closed position. During a molding process, the tacky contact face of the polymeric label receptor receives a mold-side face of a label. The label is held in position against the tacky contact face during the molding process by surface tension between the mold-side face of the label and the tacky contact face of the polymeric label receptor.

A security information and graphic image fusion system to be used with verification equipment to provide a tamper proof labeled article having security information thereon. The label comprises a printable sheet having at least one invisible IR or UV image, or both, printed thereon, at least one visible image printed thereon, and an over-coating layer thereon. The invisible IR or UV image, or both, provide security information. The visible image provides the graphic image. The label is permanently fused by an in-mold molding process to an article made of plastic, rubber or the combination thereof to render it tamper proof.

Security information and graphic image fusion

A security and/or tracking information and graphic image fusion system to be used with verification equipment to provide a tamper proof labeled article having security and/or tracking information thereon. The label comprises a printable sheet having at least one RFID device thereon, and an outer layer thereon. The RFID device provides security and/or tracking information for the labeled article. The label may further include at least one visible image printed thereon. To provide additional layers of security, at least one invisible IR or UV image, or both, may also be printed on the printable sheet to provide security and/or tracking information. The visible image provides the graphic image. The label is permanently fused by an in-mold molding process to an article made of plastic, rubber or the combination thereof to render it tamper proof.

RFID systems and graphic image fusion

An in-mold and in-line decorating method is disclosed which, using a single sheet layer, allows the placement of the highest possible quality graphics into the surface of products made from a variety of moldable thermoplastic, thermoset, and vulcanizable materials using a variety of molding processes. The methods also provide new or improved capabilities for product identification, safety, and serialized tracking.

Graphic image fusion

A method is disclosed for molding a part. The method includes steps of heating molding materials in a plasticator at a predetermined temperature; mixing the molding materials to create a molten suspension wherein a majority of the reinforcing fibers remain generally undamaged; extruding the molten suspension to form a billet and then placing the billet in a compression mold and compressing the billet with the compression mold to mold a part. In one embodiment, the reinforcing fibers are distributed throughout the part.

Method for molding reinforced thermoplastic parts

The invention comprises a method for creating a billet for molding a part. A plasticator is loaded with long reinforcing fibers and materials, such as a polyester, a carbocyclic, thermoplastic polymers or mixtures thereof, and heated to a predetermined temperature. The feed is then blended and plasticated to form a molten suspension. Pressure and shear within the plasticator is controlled to provide a process that provides a moldable billet with the length of the reinforcing fibers generally preserved through the plasticating and molding operation.

Method of construction using molded polymer blocks

A method and apparatus for measuring the flow rates of fluids is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a probe which may be placed in a fluid inside a vessel, such as a blood vessel. The probe comprises at least one pair of conductors to which the circuit provides a small current. As ions are disordered or migrate between at least one of the conductors and the fluid, a current or charge is caused to flow between the conductors. The circuit measures this current using a differential amplifier and generates an output signal corresponding thereto. The output signal is then displayed on a monitor. Because the current flow is closely related to the rate of flow of the fluid past the probe, an accurate measurement of the flow rate is obtained.
