A method and apparatus for removing a contaminant from a fluid feed stream containing the contaminant. The method includes the steps of providing a feed stream and heating it in a first step to at least partially remove some of the contaminants and recover energy from a concentrate and distillate generated. Further heating the feed stream in a second heating step in a heated separator generates a saturated vapor fraction and a concentrated liquid contaminant fraction. The vapor fraction may be compressed to generate a temperature differential in the reboiler exchanger with the vapor fraction being passed into contact with a reboiler exchanger to provide a stream of condensed vapor from the reboiler. The stream may be circulated through the reboiler exchanger and the heated separator to maintain from about 1% to about 50% by mass vapor in the stream. The apparatus includes a unique configuration of a vapor compressor, heated separator in combination with a forced circulation circuit to generate the decontamination result.

Multiple effect distillation process with reduced fouling

A compact power swivel for well drilling rigs and the like, comprising a frame; a mounting bracket secured to the frame; a quill rotatable on an axis mounted to the bracket; a bull gear coaxially disposed on the quill for rotating the quill; a motor mounted to the bracket and including a shaft rotatable on an axis parallel to the quill axis; a spur gear coaxially disposed on the shaft and rotatable, therewith engaging the bull gear for rotating the bull gear and the quill thereby; a disc brake mounted to the bracket and co-operating with the shaft for controlling rotation of the shaft and the quill thereby; and a thrust bearing coaxially disposed on the quill and associated with the bracket, for permitting free rotation of the quill and for distributing to the bracket forces associated with displacement of the swivel.

Compact power swivel

A cylindrical goods lifting and placement apparatus comprises a platform, an angularly disposable frame pivotably connected to the platform and having a drill pipe holding system for holding a length of drill pipe. An angularly displaceable member is pivotably connected to the platform and has a cylinder and piston assembly for angularly displacing the member from a first position substantially adjacent the holding system. Drill pipe grippers are connected to the member and the grippers are rotatable on an axis from a first position to a second position substantially aligned with the holding system. A drive system for rotating the pipe grippers is provided. Similarly, a drive system for operating the grippers is provided.
