An example process includes: while displaying a user interface different from a digital assistant user interface, receiving a user input; in accordance with a determination that the user input satisfies a criterion for initiating a digital assistant: displaying, over the user interface, the digital assistant user interface, the digital assistant user interface including: a digital assistant indicator displayed at a first portion of the display; and a response affordance displayed at a second portion of the display, where: a portion of the user interface remains visible at a third portion of the display; and the third portion is between the first portion and the second portion.

The present disclosure relates, in one embodiment, to an unstable surface training apparatus. The apparatus may include a platform that is pivotally connected to a support member about the pivot axis. The apparatus may include at least one user handle that is adjustably connected to the platform. The platform may be freely pivotable about the pivot axis up to a maximum degree of rotation. Some embodiments of the exercise apparatus may include an base upon which the support member is connected. The base provides the exercise apparatus with increased stability. Other embodiments of the exercise apparatus may include a rotational restriction assembly disposed between the support member and the platform for limiting the maximum degree of rotation.

An inexpensive reusable device for measuring the temperature distribution in a substrate, such as meat, poultry, or fish, is disclosed. The device is easy to read, fast and convenient and low in cost without the use of batteries. The device, which utilizes thermochromic materials mounted on one or more metal carriers, can be inserted into or placed in contact with the substrate for determining the temperature gradient across the substrate.

A friction enhancing material is applied to at least one surface of the geosynthetic clay liner. The placement of friction enhancing material on the surface of the liner that engages a slope or embankment of a landfill helps the liner maintain its position during and after installation. The improved frictional contact between the liner and the slope or embankment permits use of bentonite liners on steeper slopes or embankments and therefore enables more efficient construction of landfills. The friction enhancement material may also be applied to the surface to improve contact between the upper surface of the geosynthetic clay liner and the cover soil. The friction enhancement material may be high density polyethylene, EVA, rubbers and other polymeric materials.

A headstock with driving spindle coincident with said centering spindle's axis is also mounted on said support bed. A portable light is disclosed having a box-shaped housing with a rectangular front opening adapted to secure pivotally a front plate to which a conical reflector and incandescent light are attached. The housing supports an interior battery and is provided with a plurality of exterior L-shaped members on each of its exterior sides. A corresponding substantially oval-shaped clasp is provided at each end of a belt which is threaded through slots in a flexible oblong member for attachment to the housing. Alternatively, the portable light can be mounted on a bracket mount secured on a wall surface or clipped onto the user's clothing.

A substantially smokeless burning system for burning waste material fuels. An elongated hollow burning chamber is supported in a generally horizontal orientation with a slight degree of upward tilt from front to rear. An elongated fuel accumulation chamber and a hydraulic hoist driven ram in the chamber are adapted to push elongated volumes of new fuel into the lower front end of the burning chamber such that already burning fuel is pushed to the rear of the chamber. This establishes a charcoal burning zone which at least partially overlies a volatile burning zone such that incomplete combustion products from the volatile burning zone pass over and through the charcoal burning zone to be substantially burned before exiting at the rear of the burning chamber. The burning chamber is formed of a plurality of pipe sections which are molded of refractory material in a concrete pipe making machine. Integral preheat and air delivery channels are formed in the walls of the burning chamber during the molding process.

A knockdown spring unit for seating furniture has lift springs connectible to a rail of a frame of the furniture and releasably attachable to a suitable platform arrangement forming a seating surface. The platform arrangement can either be fastened directly to the frame at points opposite connection of the lift springs to the frame, or the platform arrangement can be supported entirely by the lift springs for indirect attachment to the frame. Each of the lift springs has a coil portion which terminates at a one end thereof in an eye and at the other end thereof in a stem disposed extending transversely from the turns of the coil portion and forming a hook provided with a substantially V-shaped bend the vertex of which is normally disposed adjacent the eye of the spring when the spring is in an undeflected state.

Knockdown spring unit

An ecological system and method for counteracting the effects of excessive nutrient deposition (eutrophication) in bodies of water such as marshlands, inland ponds and lakes. The system makes use of clusters of substantially individualized bark fibers positioned in upper, relatively oxygen-rich zones of such bodies of water. The bark clusters function to attract and hold excessive nutrient deposition in the form of colloidal wastes (e.g., colloidal solids of various types, single cell bacteria, etc.) and aquatic algae produced thereby, while at the same time providing a safe habitat for algae predators and feeders in the form of minute animal organisms (e.g., crustacea, rotifers, snails, zooplankton, etc). The isolation and dispersion of the bark fiber clusters on the surface of the threatened bodies of water serves to prevent a disruptive imbalance between the algae and algal feeders by providing increased areas for life and surface breeding of various types of algae predators to thereby maintain essential trophic balance.
