A plastic ignition high voltage switch housing comprising two separately molded components formed of a high temperature, high strength insulating thermoplastic material, each component containing one bushing. The two components are spun welded together while maintaining axial alignment of the bushings. The two components can be designed to permit the placement of a gasket between them prior to spin welding, thereby capturing the gasket within the housing.

Plastic ignition high voltage switch housing

A coupling for connecting the end of the camshaft of an internal combustion engine to the drive shaft of an ignition distributor. The coupling comprises a drive coupling member that is fixed to the drive shaft of the ignition distributor. The coupling member has a pair of axially extending lugs that have surfaces that engage surfaces formed on a pair of lugs that extend axially from the end of the camshaft. A spring member is fixed to the coupling member which has a pair of curved spring portions that engage other surfaces on the camshaft lugs and which serve to prevent backlash between the shafts.

Resilient anti-backlash shaft coupling

A projection having contoured sides that is carried by a member drivably engaging an internal combustion engine ignition distributor shaft is forced, upon assembly of the distributor to the engine, into an accommodating notch on the end of the engine camshaft adjacent the distributor shaft. The notch in the camshaft has substantially plane sidewalls that taper substantially equally inwardly at such an angle that each may tangentially engage a respective contoured side of the projection.
